New York has 18.9 million inhabitants. Each year, there are about 50 million visitors, of which 12 are from abroad. The city of New York is divided into 5 boroughs: Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island.
The city of New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world. New York is referred to as the city that never sleeps. It also has the nickname Big Appel. The most important language is English, followed by Spanish.
New York has 3 airports, John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport. The city has many attractions. Well known attractions include: Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge, Broadway, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Niagara Falls, and much more.
The Empire State Building is a skyscraper which is 443m high and has 102 floors. The Statue of Liberty was inaugurated in 1886 and has a height of 93m. The statue was a gift from the French to the USA.
The Brooklyn Bridge in New York is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the US. It connects the districts of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The bridge has six lanes. It was opened in 1883 and has a total length of 1833m.
Niagara Falls are waterfalls that lie between New York and the Canadian border. The city has nearly 20,000 restaurants. Typical New York foods include bagels, pancakes, cheesecake, pizza, hot dogs and burgers, as well as sushi. New York is also known as a global financial center. Many global corporations and companies have their headquarters there.
