As a Guidance Counselor, I had the privilege of supporting students' personal, academic, and social development. I facilitated individual and group counseling sessions, working closely with students to address their challenges and develop strategies for resilience and growth. My role also involved collaborating with parents and teachers to create tailored interventions that promoted the holistic development of each student. I am particularly passionate about fostering mental health awareness and empowering young individuals to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential. Currently, I apply my skills as an Online ESL Teacher, helping non-native speakers improve their English proficiency. In this role, I develop engaging lesson plans tailored to students' learning needs and goals. I focus on creating a supportive and interactive environment that encourages confidence in speaking, writing, and comprehension. This experience has further enhanced my ability to communicate effectively across cultures, adapt to diverse learning styles, and motivate students to succeed. My dual experience as a counselor and educator has strengthened my commitment to empowering individuals, whether by addressing their emotional and psychological needs or by equipping them with the tools for effective communication. Hallo! Mein Name ist Leon, ich bin 25 Jahre alt und studiere Englisch und Geschichte auf Lehramt an der RWTH Aachen. Bereits während meines Studiums konnte ich vielfältige praktische Erfahrungen sammeln – u. a. durch ein Praktikum an der Montessori-Gesamtschule in Krefeld, wo ich gelernt habe, wie wichtig individuelles, gehirngerechtes Lernen ist. Mir ist es besonders wichtig, Schüler*innen zu motivieren, selbstständig und mit Freude zu lernen. Ich versuche stets, die Inhalte anschaulich und alltagsnah zu vermitteln. Neben dem Studium habe ich: • für UNICEF und Greenpeace im Bereich Kommunikation & Teamleitung gearbeitet, • mehrere Schüler erfolgreich bei der Schülerhilfe in Aachen unterrichtet, • Gitarrenunterricht gegeben, • und vor Kurzem ein zweimonatiges Praktikum an einem Sprachinstitut in Kolumbien abgeschlossen, wo ich wöchentlich über 40 Stunden unterrichtet habe. Ich freue mich darauf, gemeinsam mit dir oder Ihrem Kind motiviert und strukturiert zu lernen – mit Geduld, Humor und einem offenen Ohr! Nach meinem Abitur 2020 in Düsseldorf habe ich als Promoter für UNICEF und Greenpeace gearbeitet. Dort übernahm ich schnell Verantwortung in der Projektleitung und war für die Einarbeitung neuer Mitarbeiter*innen zuständig. Im Anschluss sammelte ich als Nachhilfelehrer bei der Schülerhilfe in Aachen wichtige pädagogische Erfahrungen. Der Fokus lag dort auf Stillarbeit, wobei ich Schüler*innen verschiedenster Altersstufen in Haupt- und Nebenfächern betreute, Aufgaben korrigierte und individuelle Hilfestellungen gab. Zusätzlich habe ich über einen Zeitraum von acht Monaten als Runner in einem Club gearbeitet – eine körperlich fordernde Tätigkeit, bei der ich Flaschen einsammelte, spülte und Getränkekisten trug. Auch diese Erfahrung hat meine Belastbarkeit, Disziplin und Teamfähigkeit gestärkt. Darüber hinaus bin ich regelmäßig auf dem Aachener Weihnachtsmarkt tätig, wo ich im direkten Kundenkontakt arbeite und weitere praktische Einblicke in Organisation und Service gewinnen konnte. Zuletzt habe ich ein zweimonatiges Praktikum an einem Sprachinstitut in Kolumbien absolviert. Dort unterrichtete ich über 40 Stunden pro Woche Englisch – Montag bis Freitag (08:00/10:00 bis 20:00 Uhr) sowie samstags bis 13:00 Uhr. Diese intensive Zeit hat meine methodischen und kommunikativen Fähigkeiten noch einmal deutlich gestärkt und mich geprägt.
