I have worked as a lecturer at De Montfort University for over 15 years. I hold a PGCE in further Education, an MA in English Language Teaching, and a BA honours in English. I taught English for Academic Purposes at university. This enabled me to develop various teaching approaches at different levels of English usage. I have also taught KS3-KS5 in the UK and abroad during which I have been observed several times and demonstrated that I was outstanding. I have used various teaching aids ranging from pictures, flash cards, to a variety of IT techniques. I have also used peer interaction and assessment to develop learners. Teaching at university enabled me to teach presentation skills. This has enabled me to do the same during training, coaching and mentoring sessions with colleagues. I have mentored a number of tutors. In my experience as a university lecturer I have used a variety of online platforms to teach students during the Covid-19 pandemic. I began my journey into English in 2002 when I did a BA (hons) in English at Demontfort university. Following this I did an MA in Children’s Literature in 2005 due to my immense love of reading. However, it was only when I landed a job at a resources centre that I decided to specialize in teaching and so I did a PGCE in education and an MA in English language teaching both in 2007-2009. I absolutely love teaching since then - as cliche as it sounds it is truly my passion and the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. I love my students and to see them excel truly makes me content. I’ve been told that I have a gift for building a rapport with learners and I to feel this is something that comes naturally to me because as a student I myself struggled with being misunderstood and branded as a ‘bad student’. I feel as a result I can relate to students and their struggles more easily. I’m also very patient and an excellent listener.

I am 19 years old taking a year out before going to study economics at university. I studied maths, physics and economics at A-level and got A*AA. I was captain of my first XV rugby team and have put on workshops for younger students so leading and helping peers is in my nature. Having recently left school, A-levels are fresh in my memory. I understand how a student wants to learn and what they may be struggling on in the syllabus. I attended Bradford Grammar School, where I was awarded a means-tested bursary in the 11+. I have 11 GCSEs and 3 A-levels all of equivalent grade A and above. Physics at A-level, in particular, forced me to work hard and be a critical thinker. I enjoyed the challenge of applying knowledge.

I lived in Dubai for 13 years and I am currently residing in Tbilisi ,Georgia .I love learning new languages and I am currently studying Spanish( I am on level B2, French(level A1), and Portuguese(level A1) I also speak Afrikaans. As an online tutor, I offer a range of subjects to potential students. For English as a second language, I focus on developing students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through a combination of interactive activities, exercises, and conversational practice. For English (KS 1 and KS2), my lessons are tailored to the individual needs of each student and cover key areas such as phonics, grammar, spelling, comprehension, and creative writing. I use a variety of resources, including books, videos, and games, to make learning engaging and enjoyable. For beginner Spanish learners, I introduce the basics of the language, including grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. I also provide opportunities for students to practice their speaking and listening skills through interactive exercises and conversations. In mathematics (KS1 and KS2), I cover key topics such as number sense, arithmetic, geometry, and data analysis. I use a range of strategies, including visual aids, manipulatives, and real-world scenarios, to help students develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. In geography (UK up to GCSE), I explore topics such as physical geography, human geography, and environmental issues. My lessons involve interactive activities, discussions, and case studies to help students develop their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. For history (UK up to GCSE and 11+ reasoning), I focus on key events, people, and concepts from different historical periods. I use a range of resources, including primary sources, documentaries, and simulations, to help students engage with the subject matter and develop their critical thinking and analytical skills. Overall, my online lessons are designed to be engaging, interactive, and tailored to the individual needs of each student. I work closely with my students to ensure that they feel supported, challenged, and motivated to achieve their goals.

I am a 22 year old who puts her heart and soul into her passion, which is teaching. I absolutely love people, interacting and getting to know people. I love being creative, whether it be planning my next lesson for a class or molding something with clay, I am always busy! I am a good balance between introverted and extroverted because I do treasure my alone time for some self care masks and watching a comfort movie. I love reading and spending time with friends and family. I always believe in staying kind because you never know what someone else is going through at home. I love sushi as well! It has most probably always been my favourite food! I am a fourth year student studying Foundation Phase education at Stellenbosch University. I have completed a 360 hour TEFL course, exemplifying my love for the English language. As a specialized Foundation Phase educator, I firmly believe that the knowledge I have gathered will help build strong foundations for my students in their journey to English success. I have a good practical experience and am able to adapt different teaching styles to best suit a students needs. Learning concretely and using movement while learning, although it will be through a screen, makes learning more engaging and a fun way to gain knowledge!
