But it's during my time at Manchester that, thanks to my amazing lecturers, I got passionate about teaching and I decided to become a tutor. Apart from languages and literature, I love screenwriting, reading, playing volleyball and tennis. I have an MA and PhD in Classics and Ancient History from The University of Manchester, and a background in Italian, English and Russian. In 2015, I completed my BA in English and Russian in Italy. In 2017, I gained an MA in Classics and Ancient History (with distinction) from the University of Manchester and went on to apply for a PhD in Classics and Ancient History. During my MA and the first two years of my PhD, I was lucky enough to attend John Taylor’s classes in Latin and Classical Greek. Over the past five years, I have built my teaching experience both in the classroom and as a private tutor: I have successfully tutored students in Latin and Greek (both in Italy and in the UK) preparing for CE, GCSE, and A-Level examinations; I have taught Latin literature and Roman history to undergraduate students at Manchester University. I have also taught Latin and Classical Greek at the London Summer School in Classics (UCL), and Homeric Greek at the Summer School in Homer (UCL). In 2021, I was awarded an Associate Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy. In 2022, I completed my PhD in Classics and Ancient History.

I have a first-class bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Classics from The Open University, as well as Philosophy MA at Birkbeck University, in which I achieved a distinction. I studied a wide range of topics such as ethics, metaphysics, logic, ancient history, literature, and culture. I am currently studying for a research degree and I have always been intellectually driven and have experience in learning efficiently and effectively. My teaching style is enthusiastic, explorative, and attentive. I aim to inspire my students to discover the beauty and relevance of English Literature and Language and to help them develop their critical thinking and analytical skills. I tailor my lessons to suit the needs and interests of each student, and I provide them with detailed feedback and guidance. I teach English, as well as Philosophy and Ancient Languages (Greek and Latin), at various levels, from beginners to advanced and have a strong knowledge of GCSE and A level Syllabi. I have worked as an examiner for GCSE English Literature, so can use this experience to help student achieve peak exam performance. I believe that learning can be not only intellectually rewarding, but also enjoyable. I use a variety of resources and methods to make my lessons engaging and interactive, such as games, quizzes, videos, podcasts, key texts, and images. I also encourage my students to express their own opinions and perspectives, and to engage in lively discussions with me and with each other. I have been working as a tutor as part of the National Tutoring Scheme for the past year. In that time, I have been consistently praised for my creative, engaging and understanding approach to tuition. I have also completed a Teach First course in a Further Education environment, in which I shadowed experienced teachers, learnt about effective teaching practice, and presented my own lesson to senior educators to rave reviews. I now work at one of the highest performing sixth-forms in the country, advising students on their study skills. I work in an Ofsted Outstanding Sixth-Form, assisting students with their study skills and also work as an examiner for GCSE English Literature, as well as working as an GCSE English Literature Examiner.

Last year I completed the International Baccalaureate, and have also taken GCSEs and IGCSEs. I studied all three of my subjects at IB level as well as at GCSE/IGCSE. I have also had tutoring experience from primary-GCSE level, with a preference for GCSE tutoring. I have also done courses on Autism, ADHD, and mental health and have taught people with SEND. I am also indifferent to the age of my students but would prefer to teach at GCSE level. Personally, I would describe myself as open-minded, kind, and caring and would also say that I am a nerd! I adore all things Star Wars, Harry Potter, and also love animals. I've had experience tutoring students at GCSE level for a variety of different subjects. I have also done work experience and volunteering at local state and private schools, particularly at primary-GCSE levels.
