In this role I worked with year 10 and year 11 students, helping them progress in GCSE English Literature and GCSE English Language. I have recently completed an MA in Education at University College London and am currently working as a teaching assistant in a secondary school. I support students in lessons and run GCSE English Literature and Language revision sessions for SEN students. I also support year 7, 8 and 9 students with phonics interventions. September 2025 I will be training as a secondary school English teacher. I'm passionate about building student's confidence in their subject alongside building their subject knowledge. Based on my own experience, I'm keen to help students become more confident in how they perform in exam conditions and maximise the application of their knowledge when under pressure. Working as a Maths, English and 11+ tutor for the past 7 years, I have had the pleasure of teaching children aged 4 to 16 from various backgrounds. My job role includes working with children whom had special educational needs and those who speak limited English therefore I believe it to be vital that each individual’s way of learning is taken into account, through organising imaginative and stimulating projects to motivate the children. I believe patience to be extremely important when tutoring any child and I am certain that I am able to carry forward these skills when teaching your child. Hey! My name is Dylan Archer and I'm currently studying Economics, Finance, and Banking at the University of Portsmouth. I play goalkeeper in football and corner in American Football, both at university level with my American football career taking me to two national championships in my first year of playing. Hi! My name is Lucia Valero and I am a third year Chemical Engineering student at the University of Aberdeen. I have taught Maths from primary to S4 level for a year. I try to keep lessons light and as engaging by possible, always working through examples and really encourage students to think independently as they are often capable of more than they realize. (I am not interested in teaching Spanish at the moment) Spanish is my first language, and I am familiar with the process of learning a second language so I am confident in teaching it. I find that usually reading and conversation are the best ways to learn a language and achieve fluidity but I can adapt to each student's needs. I sat Scottish exams (SQAs) and currently attend the University of Aberdeen for Chemical Engineering. I speak fully fluent English, Spanish and some French. I have around 2 years of tutoring experience I am interested in teaching English as a foreign language not as a subject. For certain age groups, I will be using past paper questions to help build technique in answering common questions and, therefore, a create a strong foundation for more difficult questions. However, it is imperative topics are understood before they are tested so more fundamental teaching will always be put in place before questions. Apart from GCSEs and A levels, I don’t have any other ‘main’ qualifications but I’ve achieved Gold in a UKMT Maths Challenge and also completed the Chemistry Olympiad at A level. I also completed optional Scholarship exams at Trinity College Dublin, and am now a funded Medical Scholar for the rest of my degree. I have also completed the medical entrance exams, achieving 3180 99th percentile in UCAT, and 189 95% percentile in HPAT.
