Hello there! Hope you are well. My name is Joshua Hailey and my pronouns are he/him. I have been an online tutor for around three years, and I hope this 'About Me' section gives you an insight into who I am and my teaching style. Before I go into more detail about who I am, I would urge you to read the testimonials, (at the bottom of this section), from some of my current parents whose children I am teaching! These statements can help you make an informed decision and, (hopefully), choose me as your child's next tutor. I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. In September 2024 I am undertaking a Masters in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. With over two years tutoring experience, a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills, I have challenged and supported students across all educational stages, including primary school pupils right up to A Level students! I want your child to succeed and I truly believe they can do this! My lessons are varied, fun, but get the work done! Education is not 'one size fits all', and online tutoring is the perfect example of this. My sessions will see your child grow from strength to strength, as they learn new concepts and methods of success in their respective subject. You will not find me simply reading off a screen for the entire lesson, but you can expect interactivity to drive every single lesson that I will (hopefully) have with your child! In addition to English tuition, I also offer Primary Maths, 11+ and History. I have experience supporting students in all these subjects, and have completed them to a GCSE/A Level standard (for more information on this, please see my 'Academic Background' section). In summary, I promise to adopt a customised learning plan and positive ethos for your child across all sessions. As the parent, you deserve to feel included in your child's progress. I will endeavour to regularly update you through messages, comprehensive written reports and periodic phone calls should you want them! Here is a full list of the subjects I offer depending on the age of your child: Reception-Year 9: Maths (Primary age only), English Language, English Literature, SPaG, Reading, Comprehension, Literacy, History, 11+ (For 11+ I can only offer English and Verbal Reasoning so please keep this in mind.) GCSE: History, (Edexcel and AQA), English Language (including the Speaking and Listening component), English Literature (AQA, OCR or Edexcel), SPaG, Reading skills A Level: English Literature (AQA, OCR and Edexcel), SPaG, Reading skills, Extended Project Qualification with a literature focus. Exam Board Experience: AQA, Edexcel and OCR. Languages I speak: English SND Experience: Little to no real-life experience, but I have had mentoring from an SND tutor As mentioned at the start of this, here are some written testimonials from some parents of the students I teach. I hope this enables you to see how beneficial I can be for your child's education! Jaydon's, (a year 3 English student), parent says: 'Joshua is a wonderful tutor and has the ability to engage with children in a warm and nurturing way. He is excellent at engaging my somewhat headstrong son and has not only picked up on his strengths, but is encouraging him to build on them which is increasing his confidence. Joshua’s subject knowledge is second to none, but what makes him wonderful tutor has been his ability to get to know my son, understand his way of thinking and adapt a teaching style that brings out his best work. Homework, the reinforcement of topics learnt in session and the positive feedback has really helped to my son progress well in English. My son looks forward to his sessions with Joshua every week.' Archie's, (a recent GCSE student), parent says: 'We couldn’t have asked for a better tutor than Josh. My son was struggling with his GCSE English Literature and after just one session with Josh, he felt so much more confident with the subject. There was a lot to cover but Josh set out carefully planned revision sessions leading up to and during the exams that covered all the topics. So by the time the exams came my son felt able to tackle anything that came up. Josh is incredibly amiable and knowledgeable and put my son at ease straight away. I would definitely recommend Josh to anyone who is looking for an excellent English tutor.' Kimiya's, (an 11+ Verbal Reasoning student), parent says: 'Kimiya has been having lessons with Josh for almost a year. She has improved significantly and is getting better day by day. Kimiya really enjoys the lessons with Josh and is always looking forward to their next lesson. Josh makes the lessons fun and makes sure that Kimiya has understood the subject before ending the lessons. We are very happy and lucky to have him tutoring Kimiya.' So... what are you waiting for! Are you ready to see your child thrive? Let's do this! I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. I am currently completing a Masters degree in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. Below are my other qualifications and their examination boards. If you decide to choose me as the tutor for your child I am more than happy to go into detail about my qualifications at your first session! Please note the examination board of each qualification is in brackets. This does not mean I am not able to teach an alternative exam board for your child. Feel free to address any concerns around this at our first session. Teaching you or your children is my passion. Achieving your full potential, my main target. I believe in your singularity as an individual and the reason I adapt my classes to you, and not the opposite. Full interaction is key to engage you and make you reach your full potential. Having worked with multiple year groups in primary, SEN and tutoring classes proved to me that my students and I feel more comfortable when we work together. I grew up speaking 3 languages, therefore I found it easier to pick up more languages as I already had an ear for it. This led me to study all languages at A-Level before I decided to study my bachelor's degree in music. As you can see my passions lie in various subjects so let's meet and see how we can work together. Listening and learning to who you are will be the first step to personalise and tailor the way we feel most comfortable working together. It’s not about what you learn, it’s the kind of person that the knowledge will make you out to be. As a human being, play is an essential aspect of your development. Einstein said "Play is the highest form of research”. You and my students enjoy, explore, try, fail, succeed, question everything, play and walk their own path but, always by my side.

Hi, I'm Mona! A little about me; I tutor Primary and GCSE-level students in English. Right now, I'm more focused on GCSE students. I have in-depth knowledge in English literature from Shakespearean plays like Macbeth to War and Conflict Poems, and more. I'm fluent in English, write a lot, and I absolutely love creative writing so that comes in handy when guiding students through revision for the English Language Paper. I'm also familiar with exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel, and Eduqas. What I love most about my tutoring sessions is that from the onset, my students and I try to make learning not feel like a chore. We strive to not only achieve the educational goals we set out but we make it so that the main objective is to learn and understand, not just pass a test. I'm open-minded and firmly believe there is no such thing as a person who can't be taught. Each student is different from the next and all anyone really needs is the right kind of guidance. I am currently in University for my Bachelor's but I graduated from the equivalent of UK A-Levels with honours. My curriculum was English, Arts, and Humanities-centered so I had subjects such as Media and Information Literacy, Research Writing, Creative Fiction and Non-Fiction, Contemporary Art, etc. I used to write for a travel blog and was the assistant to the managerial editor of a newspaper company so I proofread, edited, and wrote articles a lot.

Hello! I'm Anoushka, a devoted Mechanical Engineering student at Bournemouth University, with a strong passion for mentoring the next generation in Mathematics, Physics,Chemistry,French and German. My extensive journey in Mechanical Engineering has equipped me with a profound understanding and expertise in these subjects. I channel this knowledge enthusiastically to provide comprehensive and approachable tutoring services to students from various exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and Eduqas. My tutoring methodology is not merely about conveying information; I aim to bring these subjects to life, elucidating their profound implications on our daily existence. In my teaching, I regularly infuse practical examples, with a goal to inspire a long-lasting love for learning in my students that stretches beyond textbooks and traditional classrooms. Understanding the unique learning styles of every student, I have honed a customised teaching approach. Combining this personal touch with my mentoring capacity, I've been successful in unveiling the hidden potentials of numerous students, facilitating significant academic progress. My students regularly improve their grades by as many as 5 levels within a single academic year. A particular accomplishment that I cherish is assisting a student initially grappling with German and Physics at grade 4, to metamorphose into an autonomous problem solver, who eventually achieved grade 9 in both German and Physics GCSE's. I am deeply familiar with the UK GCSE curriculum, owing to my continuous commitment to self-improvement and education. I frequently partake in professional development workshops and courses to stay updated with the evolving GCSE curriculum, exam structures, and contemporary teaching methodologies. This proactive approach empowers me to fully prepare my students for their examinations. At the core, I am committed to guiding my students on their academic journey, assisting them in becoming independent learners, primed and enthusiastic to tackle intricate problems. I put special emphasis on mastering those challenging exam questions that demand more than a rudimentary recall of information. I aim to imbue them with confidence and equip them to unlock their highest potential and secure top grades. This, in turn, enables them to advance in their future career paths. Witnessing my students' holistic growth, both academically and personally, overall brings me the greatest gratification. I am a third-year Mechanical Engineering student studying at Bournemouth University with my academic prowess evident in my A-level achievements in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry alongside stellar grades 7-9 in the same subjects together with French and German at GCSE level. These subjects are not just areas I teach; they are disciplines that I have actively pursued and excelled in throughout my academic career. One key asset that I bring as a tutor is my current status as a Mechanical Engineering student. This up-to-date, hands-on experience allows me to provide learners with fresh insights and contemporary applications of the principles they are studying. This can help to make the learning experience more engaging, relatable, and beneficial for students as they can see the practical relevance of what they are learning. Beyond my academic qualifications, I firmly believe in the transformative power of education and the potential every student holds. My interest in teaching extends beyond just conveying the subject matter. I am committed to understanding the individual learning styles of my students, allowing me to tailor my teaching approach to their needs. This personalised methodology ensures that learning becomes a process of discovery, making it a more enjoyable and effective experience. I am dedicated to helping students uncover and maximise their potential. My aim is to empower students by equipping them with the knowledge they need and by fostering an environment that encourages curiosity and creativity. I strongly believe that learning should be a process of exploration and self-discovery, rather than just rote learning.
