Hello! I'm Haneen Abu-Seido, and I have a passion for teaching Biology, specifically A-level Biology. Ope Adetunji
I like to make my lessons understanding, yet fun, so it doesn't feel like my student is back in school, but rather in a relaxed learning environment where they are free to make mistakes so they can learn better. I have various hobbies and interests, including reading, going to the gym, and watching sports, so I believe I have a variety of things I can relate to my students on, in order to build and maintain a rapport with them.

Pelumi Daniel
I am a charismatic medical student with a passion to teach biology, science and maths at primary level and GCSE. My 7 years in higher education has taught me two things; 1) no one is a bad student; we all just need the right teacher to cater to our learning styles and 2) that learning (to achieve outstanding results) should be an active process e.g. using spaced repetition and active recall. I prefer teaching with examples, mnemonics and past papers but also deconstructing complex topics into bitesize pieces. I would describe myself as a patient and fluid person. Meaning, if I see my student just isn’t understanding a topic after explaining it to them, I take time to re strategise a new way to teach or present a topic or question Besides teaching I am also passionate about sports, gaming, and tech. I have recently coached an under 15 basketball team and currently teach guitar to the children at my church. I believe these skills will help me build rapport with my students which should increase their trust in me and by consequence boost their grades.

Frequently Asked Questions about biology

How can biology tutoring improve grades and self-confidence

It’s no surprise that many school students struggle to keep up with the teaching material and are overwhelmed by the number of assessments they have to do every year.

Often, due to a strict and jam-packed curriculum, teachers don’t have enough time to adequately answer questions from all students and go into depth explanations. This is part of the reason why more and more students are falling behind, especially at a higher level.

Our online biology tutoring provides students with an excellent opportunity to significantly improve their understanding and their grades!

Whether you’re a student looking for tutoring yourself or you are a parent looking for tutoring for their child, you can call one of our experts today, who will discuss your situation, needs and desires.

Our experts will then choose the right biology tutor for you. You will have access to a free trial where you can get to know the teacher and how we work at GoStudent.

During the initial trial session, the tutor will be able to gain an understanding of your child’s strengths and weaknesses and then create an individual learning plan that’s tailored to them.

After the trial lesson, we will collect feedback and discuss what the best membership model is to help you achieve your individual goals.

If everyone is happy, the lessons will continue via our practical online platform, on which you can work directly with your tutor using video chat and practical digital tools. Nothing needs to stand in the way of you and better grades! Our trained tutors work with sophisticated learning success models to help you reach your potential.

The advantages of studying biology

Biology is a fundamental part of our culture. The word biology is composed of two ancient Greek words:

"Bios": meaning "life"

and

“Logos”: meaning “They talk about something”

Biology deals with many different areas of our living environment. From humans to animals and nature.

Biology is a popular subject that offers a wide range of exciting future job opportunities. Read on to discover some of the most popular ones.

Are you interested in an academic career? As a research assistant, doctor or professor, you can do research in an academic environment, publish scientific publications and work as a lecturer.

Or would you prefer a career in industry and business? You could end up in medicine, pharmacy or biotechnology. In order to progress in this direction, it should be noted that internships or other similar activities are required alongside university study.

If you've ever watched “The Big Bang Theory”, you’ll know that you can also work as a pharmacist selling medicine.

Are you an animal lover? Then nature reserves, zoos or wildlife parks are sure to appeal to you. Admittedly, the work there can sometimes be very physically demanding, but you are in daily close contact with plants and animals. For some people, this is a dream.

Other job opportunities include:

  • Research in the laboratory

  • Public relations in the field of nature conservation

  • Journalist for magazines with a specific field

  • Environmental professions in the field of ecology

  • Agribusiness

  • food industry

  • Animal researcher

  • Wholesale

Important to know:

Since biology is a popular subject, competition can be fierce. In order to stand out from the crowd, a clear specialization in a certain subject area is very useful. Do further research into which areas of biology present the best job opportunities for you and which requirements you need to meet.

What topics can be covered in online biology classes with a qualified tutor?

  • Zoology (The study of animals, mammals, amphibians, insects, invertebrates, etc.)

  • Botany (metabolism, cycle & structure of trees, plants & fungi, photosynthesis, microscopy, etc.)

  • Human biology (structure and human organs, immune system, diseases, nutrition, digestion, metabolism, energy expenditure, sex education, etc.)

  • Genetics / molecular biology/cell biology (DNA, chromosomes, reproduction of cells, mitosis, meiosis, Mendelian rules, heredity, biosynthesis, etc.)

  • Microbiology (the science of microorganisms that are invisible to the eye)

  • Evolution (theories of evolution, foundations of Charles Darwin, etc.)

  • Ecology (relationships between living beings and their environment, environmental protection, human responsibility towards the environment, ecosystems, biotic and abiotic environmental factors, etc.)

  • Behavioural Biology (The science of studying the behaviour of humans and animals)

  • and much more!

Biology is a hugely vast subject so not all topics are listed here. But we have no doubt that we will find the right teacher for you. GoStudent has tutors covering every conceivable subject in biology across all classes and all levels (primary school, secondary school, GCSE, A level, Standard Grade and Highers, university).

Biology: how can tutoring help me get a place at university?

Biology is a competitive subject to gain entry to - which is why it is all the more important to make sure your child is reaching the entry requirements.

One of the advantages of GoStudent is that you can use your credits over a variety of subjects. You can study biology and any other subject that’s needed for entrance into university at the same time. The grades you need for entry to Biology on average are listed below (data taken from UCAS.) Check out the homepage of your desired university for more detailed information.

  • A levels - You'll normally need at least two A levels, including biology and, preferably, chemistry, to get into a biology-related degree program. The entry criteria range from CCC to AAA, with BBB being the most prevalent criterion for universities and colleges. In addition, you'll need five GCSEs (A–C) in science, English, and math.

  • Highers in Scotland - Highers (the most prevalent qualification) have entry criteria ranging from CCCCD to AAAAB, with AABBB being the most common. Universities occasionally want Advanced Highers to supplement Highers. When universities or colleges ask for Advanced Highers, they usually require ABB.
