Hi there my name is Dan and I am looking to help people when it comes to learning English and History. I am 30 years old and I have a wide breadth of experience from a career that has spanned multiple roles in a variety of sectors from teaching assistant and one-to-one tutoring, all the way to construction and freelance journalism. I want to help people meet their own personal goals and what with English being so ubiquitous, it seems a grasp of at least the basics is an essential part of anyone's toolkit. My teaching style is somewhat informal with a great emphasis on what particularly interests my student because, from my experience, interest cannot be imposed on someone, it must be nurtured and addressed on the individual's terms.

I am enthusiastic, positive and patient. I have a love for English Literature, and all the joys of reading, creativity and story telling which comes with it. Currently, I am immersed in my course at The University of Edinburgh, as I go into my third year. I have previously studied History of Art, History, Art and Theatre studies - which all allow for a different perspective on the world of Literature. I have excellent IGCSE results (9 A*s and 1 A), and A level results (A*,A*,B), with an Academic scholarship and Art scholarship. I am studying an MSc in International Development part-time here at the University of Edinburgh while training and competing, as well as picking up casual hours teaching and supporting students. I lived in Aotearoa New Zealand for most of my adult life, where I also completed my bachelor's in Education with minors in Politics and TESOL. I am 21 years old and I am currently studying English Literature at Durham University. I absolutely love to travel and I am a qualified ski instructor and have done two seasons teaching in Canada and New Zealand. I am also a keen runner and I am currently training for a charitable half marathon. Additionally, I absolutely love literature! My favourite books are 'The Great Gatsby,' and 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' and 'The Picture of Dorian Gray.' I attended King's High School for Girls for my whole secondary education. I studied History, Geography and English Literature at A level during covid and received an A* in all three subjects. Following my A levels I took a gap year and I am now in my second year Studying English Literature at Durham University, and I am on track to achieve a first when I graduate next year.
