Hi, I’m Maja! (Pronounced Maya). I’m an astrophysics postgrad and a qualified secondary school science teacher. I’ve been through the full rollercoaster of science education, from fighting my way through a master’s degree and emerging with first-class honours, to teaching Year 9s on a Friday afternoon who would rather be anywhere else. Now I help GCSE and A-Level students believe what I already know: you can do this. My goal is to make science feel understandable, interesting, and even a bit fun. When I’m not teaching, you'll find me hanging upside down on an aerial hoop, or writing stories inspired by science and folklore. I went to secondary school in Hungary, where I was initially more interested in the humanities, until I fell in love with space and modern physics. For my leaving qualifications, I completed Advanced Exams in Mathematics and Physics and achieved an A. At university, I completed an integrated Master of Physics degree at the University of Southampton. My first three years focused on general physics (including lab work, mechanics, quantum physics, solid state physics, and wave physics) with a few modules of astronomy. During my master’s year, I had the incredible opportunity to conduct research at the Harvard & Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, where I studied the relationship between black holes and their host galaxies and wrote my thesis on this topic. I graduated with first-class honours in Astrophysics. After university, I felt drawn to education and wanted to help students grasp the beauty of science, so I completed a year of school-centred initial teacher training. I now hold a PGCE with QTS as a qualified science teacher.

Hi, I’m Darius, a 20-year-old student entering my third year of studying Physics at the University of Oxford. I achieved eleven grade 9s at GCSE and five A* grades at A-level in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and my EPQ. Outside of Academics In my free time, I enjoy playing piano and have achieved Grade 8. I also like staying active by representing my college in football and challenging my younger brother to tennis matches (sometimes letting him win). I’m also a keen pool player and enjoy both the social side and the competitive edge it brings. Outside of that, I’m working on improving my chess skills, I’m a passionate Arsenal fan and I love watching a good film. I am a third year Physics student at the University of Oxford. My name is Danniella and I am a qualified secondary school teacher. I am passionate about history and my favourite period is the early Roman Empire. My favourite pastime is reading about other historical periods and I’ve recently started listening to history podcasts. I am studying Biotechnology at the University of Nottingham and have been tutoring students from KS2 to A-Level for two years. I am passionate about making learning more fun for my pupils because that way they'll learn better. I am very good at explaining difficult concepts in different ways so that all students understand. I did A Levels in Biology (AQA), Chemistry (AQA), Economics (Edexcel). I am in my third year of Biotechnology BSc (Hons) and have studied a variety of modules during my studies that equiped me with relevant knowledge that will allow me to stretch my students who want to know more about science. I help my students reach their maximum potential by focusing on building the skills that they will need to succeed in exams. Exam skills are often the downfall of even very intelligent students. Exams are stressful and unnatural enviroments, but by practicing all types of questions together, my students have gone on to achieve grades that they would not have thought possible.
