Hi, I’m Martha! I tutor GCSE and A-level Maths, with a friendly, patient and practical approach. I enjoy breaking down difficult topics into simple steps and helping students build confidence with maths. I tailor lessons to each student, whether that means going back over the basics, tackling a particular topic or practising exam questions. My aim is for students to feel comfortable asking questions and to leave each lesson feeling more confident than when they started. Since graduating, I’ve spent several years working in analytical and technology roles, where I’ve used maths, data analysis and problem-solving skills in practice. My work has involved analysing large and complex datasets, identifying patterns, and communicating technical information clearly to people from a wide range of backgrounds. I also have experience delivering professional training, including designing and teaching SQL training courses. This has given me plenty of practice explaining technical concepts step-by-step, adapting my explanations to different levels of understanding, and helping people build confidence with unfamiliar material.

I am an English Intervention Tutor in a UK secondary school, with a BA in English with Creative Writing. I have a National Tutoring Programme certificate and I am also TEFL qualified. I have over two years’ experience of tutoring and over two years’ experiences as a TEFL teacher. I know that the road to higher education is not easy. I achieved an A in A Level Chemistry and continue to develop and apply my scientific knowledge throughout my medical studies. Having been through GCSEs and A Levels myself, I understand that knowing the content is only part of doing well in Chemistry. Exam technique is just as important. Students can understand a topic well but still lose marks because they do not know what the question is asking for, how to structure their answer or which key words the mark scheme expects. I therefore place a strong focus on exam questions, mark schemes, identifying common mistakes and learning how to turn knowledge into marks. I also believe that Chemistry does not have to feel intimidating or boring. With clear explanations and the right approach, Chemistry can be fun and it is absolutely a subject you can do well in.
