English has always been a subject I have taken to naturally, achieving A* in Literature A-Level, and Level 8 and 9 at GCSE. However, I have struggled in other subjects where I found it difficult to comprehend the information taught to me. Because of this, I have patience and empathy in teaching areas you may not be 100% assured in and I am able to adapt teaching styles to ensure I deliver information effectively to give the best learning experience possible. Hi there. James here, from South Africa. I taught in London in Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and then in Johannesburg and Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa for a total of 21 years. I have taught Cambridge A Level History and England and South Africa's English and History curricula. I am also a published researcher, poet, and author. I enjoy cross-country running. I like NETFLIX mystery series. I regularly get out wilderness walking and cross country swimming. Since February 2025, I tutor English and Religious Studies for GoStudent. I battled with learning difficulties at school. However, I did very well after school, because I knew that English opens doors. So, I set goals. Then I achieved a B.A (1985) and a B. Ed (1996) degree, at Wits University in Johannesburg. I did a Masters Degree in Theology (Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., 2001) and a PhD in Church History (University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2016). I believe education is a lifelong journey. We master English every day for the rest of our lives. So I'm still learning as I tutor GCSE students, A Level students, and juniors, to reach their highest goals.

Hi Shaun here, I am a Grammar school student and having done the 11+ myself find comfortable in tutoring students taking the 11+ in addition to those in Years 7-11, as my main strengths are in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I did take Biology and Chemistry for my A levels and have achieved A grades in all these subjects. I am currently a medical undergraduate student working towards my Medical Degree. I was a Grammar School student having completed my GCSEs and A-Levels before I moved on to University. I am currently a Medical undergraduate student. Helping others has always been something Ive tried to do wherever possible and is one of the main reasons why Ive tutored in the past and also why I want to become a Doctor. I am a determined and goal orientated individual who enjoys achieving fulfilment through completing tasks and activities. My hobbies include making music, extreme sports and coding for visual arts. Im also learning German at the moment. I hold a masters in Sound Design and Audiovisual Practice from the University of Glasgow. This allowed me to combine my interests and creatively employ skills in Maths and Electronics in various projects. This experience really showed me that even though some skills may seem so far removed from one another, being unrestricted in learning, leads to exciting possibilities that may only reveal themselves in time.
