I am a Final year Biomedical science student at Aston University and will be a Biomedical Scientist in the NHS, with the intention of moving onto graduate medicine! At A-level, I studied Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. At GCSE level, I studied triple science so have knowledge of that curriculum too.

Hi, I’m Maja! (Pronounced Maya). I’m an astrophysics postgrad and a qualified secondary school science teacher. I’ve been through the full rollercoaster of science education, from fighting my way through a master’s degree and emerging with first-class honours, to teaching Year 9s on a Friday afternoon who would rather be anywhere else. Now I help GCSE and A-Level students believe what I already know: you can do this. My goal is to make science feel understandable, interesting, and even a bit fun. When I’m not teaching, you'll find me hanging upside down on an aerial hoop, or writing stories inspired by science and folklore. I went to secondary school in Hungary, where I was initially more interested in the humanities, until I fell in love with space and modern physics. For my leaving qualifications, I completed Advanced Exams in Mathematics and Physics and achieved an A. At university, I completed an integrated Master of Physics degree at the University of Southampton. My first three years focused on general physics (including lab work, mechanics, quantum physics, solid state physics, and wave physics) with a few modules of astronomy. During my master’s year, I had the incredible opportunity to conduct research at the Harvard & Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, where I studied the relationship between black holes and their host galaxies and wrote my thesis on this topic. I graduated with first-class honours in Astrophysics. After university, I felt drawn to education and wanted to help students grasp the beauty of science, so I completed a year of school-centred initial teacher training. I now hold a PGCE with QTS as a qualified science teacher.

I am a results-oriented, dedicated, and enthusiastic individual with strong interpersonal skills who has maintained a positive attitude in all situations. I enjoy learning new things, taking on challenges, and finding practical solutions to problems. Whether working independently or as part of a team, I bring a strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to doing my best. My role of Head Girl at my past school, St John's College allowed me to improve my time management skills as I had to balance this role alongside my A Level examinations and UCAS deadlines. I've been a ballet dancer since the age of 4 and have completed my Grade 8 aswell as my Intermediate qualification. I've also completed my RAD Assistant Teacher Training course which helped my organisational skills and highlights my dedication to teaching others. I want to teach because I enjoy helping others understand topics they once found difficult and seeing their confidence grow. Maths can feel intimidating, and I find it rewarding to break concepts down in a clear, supportive way that makes learning feel achievable. Teaching allows me to share my knowledge while making a positive, practical difference to students’ academic journeys. Hello. My name is Darren Beech and I have been a Science Teacher for 26 years. I have taught all three science specialisms at key stage 3 (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), Biology and Chemistry at GCSE and A level Biology. I have taught all ability ranges over these years and have had exemplary success with the students in my classes. Having left main school teacher in the summer of 2025 to care for a disabled parent, I have moved into tutoring to continue passing on my passion for science and to help continue to get students to progress through their qualifications. Having completed my GCSE;s (1992) and A levels (1995), I moved to the University of Derby to complete a BSC (HONS) degree in Biology (1998) and then onto a PGCE (Secondary science) with DeMontfort University (1999). I have then taught in 4 schools over my career as a teacher of science, where I also had additional responsibilities such as Head of Biology and Deputy Head of the 6th form.
