Hi! My name is Sadia, I’m a dedicated and knowledgeable tutor with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for helping students succeed. I hold IGCSE qualifications in English Language, English Literature, and Maths, as well as GCSE Psychology. I have also achieved both Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Supporting Teaching and Learning, giving me a solid understanding of how students learn and how to support them effectively. I am currently further developing my knowledge by studying a Science, Technology and Maths course with The Open University. Alongside tutoring, I work as an exam invigilator, which gives me valuable insight into exam conditions, expectations, and common challenges students face. This allows me to better prepare students not just for the content, but for the exam experience itself. I also have extensive experience working with students with Special Educational Needs, including autism and ADHD, across both primary and secondary education. I have successfully supported many students through their GCSEs, using a patient, adaptable, and understanding approach tailored to each individual. My tutoring style is structured, supportive, and personalised. I don’t just help with homework — I focus on building confidence, strengthening understanding, and developing long-term learning skills. I break down challenging topics into clear, manageable steps and adapt my teaching methods to suit each student’s needs. With both academic knowledge and hands-on teaching experience, I understand not only what to teach, but how to teach it in a way that truly makes sense. I have worked as a lecturer at De Montfort University for over 15 years. I hold a PGCE in further Education, an MA in English Language Teaching, and a BA honours in English. I taught English for Academic Purposes at university. This enabled me to develop various teaching approaches at different levels of English usage. I have also taught KS3-KS5 in the UK and abroad during which I have been observed several times and demonstrated that I was outstanding. I have used various teaching aids ranging from pictures, flash cards, to a variety of IT techniques. I have also used peer interaction and assessment to develop learners. Teaching at university enabled me to teach presentation skills. This has enabled me to do the same during training, coaching and mentoring sessions with colleagues. I have mentored a number of tutors. In my experience as a university lecturer I have used a variety of online platforms to teach students during the Covid-19 pandemic. I began my journey into English in 2002 when I did a BA (hons) in English at Demontfort university. Following this I did an MA in Children’s Literature in 2005 due to my immense love of reading. However, it was only when I landed a job at a resources centre that I decided to specialize in teaching and so I did a PGCE in education and an MA in English language teaching both in 2007-2009. I absolutely love teaching since then - as cliche as it sounds it is truly my passion and the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. I love my students and to see them excel truly makes me content. I’ve been told that I have a gift for building a rapport with learners and I to feel this is something that comes naturally to me because as a student I myself struggled with being misunderstood and branded as a ‘bad student’. I feel as a result I can relate to students and their struggles more easily. I’m also very patient and an excellent listener.

I am very enthusiastic about Maths and the Sciences. Having just finished my A Levels studying Biology, Physics, and Mathematics at A Level; I understand the challenges students face when learning these subjects and enjoy helping others build confidence and improve their understanding. I aim to make learning engaging and accessible for every student. I recently completed my A Levels at Queen Anne's School, Reading, where I studied Biology, Physics, and Mathematics. I've had a strong interest in science, sport and problem-solving since I started secondary school, which has inspired me to pursue a degree in Sports and Exercise Science at university. Prior to that, I completed my GCSEs at King's Academy Prospect, Reading, achieving good results across all subjects, including Maths and the Sciences. During school, I enjoyed helping classmates with revision, which sparked my interest in tutoring. My recent experience with the current curriculum gives me insight into how students can succeed both academically and confidently
