Hi! I’m Alice, an enthusiastic and passionate English Literature tutor. I love exploring stories, characters and different interpretations of texts, and I particularly enjoy helping students become more confident in expressing their own ideas. I’m friendly, patient and approachable, and I believe lessons should be engaging, supportive and give students the confidence to develop their own opinions. My experience as a primary school teacher has taught me the importance of building positive relationships with students and understanding that everyone learns differently. I want my students to feel comfortable, supported and confident in their lessons, whilst I help them to discover what they enjoy about learning and achieve their goals. I'm excited to be part of your learning journey! I have a First Class Honours degree in Drama and English Literature, alongside a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). My degree gave me a strong academic foundation in English Literature, while studying Drama developed my communication, presentation and analytical skills. As an experienced primary school teacher, I have developed strong skills in lesson planning, assessment and adaptive teaching, allowing me to tailor lessons to different learners and their individual needs. My teaching experience has also given me a strong foundation in English, reading and writing, as well as experience supporting students working at a variety of levels. I’m now excited to bring my academic knowledge and classroom experience into tutoring, providing supportive, engaging and personalised lessons that help students develop both their skills and their confidence.

I have gained valuable tutoring experience in Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry by working with students across a range of ages, abilities, and UK exam boards. I have supported students who are studying GCSEs (as well as the Scottish equivalents) under AQA, Edexcel (Pearson), OCR and other boards, so I understand that each board has its own style of questions, emphasis, and mark schemes. This allows me to tailor my teaching to what students actually need for their specific exams, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. In Mathematics, I have helped students build confidence in topics from core numeracy and algebra through to higher-level work such as trigonometry, statistics, and calculus. Many students arrive feeling anxious about maths, so I focus on breaking problems into manageable steps and showing that mistakes are part of learning. In Biology, I support students with topics like cells, human body systems, genetics, and ecology, helping them move beyond memorising facts to truly understanding processes and using correct scientific language. For Chemistry, I have worked with students across many topics such as bonding, calculations, reactions, and organic chemistry, often using clear explanations and practice questions to make abstract ideas feel more concrete. I have worked with students who have learning difficulties, those who need extra support as well as those aiming for top grades. Above all, I try to create a calm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. My aim is not just to improve results, but to help students feel more confident, capable, and prepared for their exams. Completed a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, graduating with First Class Honours in 2024. Achieved excellent A-Level results in Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry, earning grades A and A*. Also obtained 10 GCSEs at grades A and A*, demonstrating a strong and consistent academic record across core scientific and analytical subjects.

Attended Staffordshire University between 2006 and 2001. During this time I achieved a BA Hons 2.1 in Business Studies and an MSc Pass in Marketing. During this time I helped International students understand subject material who found lectures too fast paced. It was during this time that I realised 1 to 1 tuition was something I could excel at.

Hi, I'm Hannah, a 2nd year chemistry student. I like teaching and would love to help others reach their full potential in maths and sciences, creating an encouraging and supportive environment such that they can improve, achieve their goals and start to enjoy the subjects as much as I do. Aside from academics, I like hiking, reading and swimming. I have also started learning crochet and knitting. I am a 2nd year student at the University of York on the MChem Chemistry with a Year in Industry undergraduate course. Before that, I went to Chelmsford County High School for Girls where I did 10 GCSEs (English language, English literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, French, German and Geography, all grade 9), HPQ and FSMQ (both As). I continued there at sixth form, where I got As in German and EPQ and A*s in Maths, Chemistry and Physics, and started mentoring students.
