Hi! I'm Simon, a Chemical Engineering Graduate from the University of Manchester, with over three years of teaching and tutoring experience. For the past 3 years I have been running a tutoring business teaching mostly Maths and Science subjects from Year 7 to A-Level. I have also taught Maths and Languages at an international high school in Singapore, and a primary school in the UK. (+DBS) Available weekday evenings, from 5-8pm. I completed a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Chemical Engineering with Industrial Experience at the University of Manchester, an accredited pre-chartership qualification within the field. This rigorous program combined in-depth academic study with practical industry exposure, preparing me for a professional career in chemical engineering. A key component of the program was a year-long industrial placement, during which I worked for a chemical distribution company. This experience allowed me to gain valuable insight into the commercial side of chemical engineering and build a practical understanding of supply chains, technical sales, and operations. It also enabled me to contribute meaningfully to the company’s work while developing essential workplace skills such as communication, project management, and adaptability. Since completing my degree, I’ve continued working with the same company, now in a professional capacity with a focus on sustainability. My final-year dissertation centred on sustainable surfactant research, which sparked a deeper interest in the environmental impact of chemical processes. This has led me to transition into a more corporate sustainability role, where I support the integration of sustainable practices across the business.

I’m currently studying Health Sciences at the University of Worcester, progressing onto a Physiotherapy degree, which has strengthened my understanding of how people learn, communicate, and develop confidence. I completed my GCSEs and A-levels at a grammar school, where I built strong academic foundations and effective study habits that I now help students develop themselves. Alongside my studies, I’ve played rugby, which has developed my teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills — qualities I bring into my tutoring style. I also have ADHD and dyslexia, which has given me a strong understanding that every student learns differently, allowing me to adapt my teaching approach to suit individual learning styles and support students who may lack confidence or feel overwhelmed. I also have a strong interest in music production, which has helped me develop creativity, patience, and problem-solving skills. I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence in their abilities. I attended Gravesend Grammar School after successfully passing the 11+ entrance examination, where I studied from Year 7 through to Year 11 before continuing into the Sixth Form. At GCSE level, I completed Higher Mathematics, English Language and English Literature, Geography, Physical Education, Business Studies, French, and Higher Combined Science. I achieved Grade 7s and strong passes across my core subjects, including the sciences, English, Geography, and Physical Education, with Grade 5s in my remaining subjects. I then completed A-levels in Biology, Psychology, and Physical Education, developing a strong understanding of human science, behaviour, and performance. Following my A-levels, I applied to the University of Worcester, where I am currently in my first year studying Health Sciences and progressing onto a Physiotherapy degree pathway.

I am an enthusiastic and dedicated GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry tutor who loves helping students understand and enjoy science. As a Biochemistry graduate with a strong academic background in the life sciences, I have spent years studying biology and chemistry, not just to pass exams, but to truly understand how these sciences work and why they matter in the real world.
