Hi, my name is Oz. I have been tutoring for about 4 years now. I am kind, empathetic, and patient, always striving to make my students feel comfortable and engaged in the subject. I like to have a fun puzzle or challenge to do towards the end of each lesson to develop problem solving skills and just have fun. Hi, I’m Kayode Ewumi, an English tutor with a passion for helping students of all ages find joy in literature and language. From Year 6 to Year 13, I work with students to develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, aiming to make English not just something they have to learn, but something they can truly enjoy and excel in. For me, teaching English is about more than just understanding grammar or memorizing quotes; it’s about helping students connect with the texts they read and empowering them to express their ideas clearly and confidently. Whether it’s analyzing a classic novel or improving essay-writing skills, I take pride in breaking down complex ideas into bite-sized, understandable pieces that students can relate to. I particularly enjoy working with new students because each one brings a fresh perspective and new challenge. I love discovering their strengths and helping them tackle areas that need improvement, especially when it comes to building confidence in their writing and comprehension. I believe every student has the ability to improve and succeed with the right guidance and support. It’s incredibly rewarding to see students grow and take ownership of their learning. I’m excited to help each of my students find their voice in English, and I look forward to seeing them not only succeed in their exams but also develop a lifelong love for reading and writing. I began my academic journey at St. Thomas the Apostle School, where I built a solid foundation across a range of subjects, particularly in the humanities. It was here that my interest in English and the arts first sparked. After completing my secondary education, I attended City and Islington College for my A-Levels, where I focused on subjects like English Literature and Language. The college environment provided a more focused, mature setting for my studies, and I was challenged to delve deeper into texts and engage in more analytical discussions. This experience solidified my commitment to pursuing a career that combined both my love for English and the performing arts. I then went on to study Theatre and English at Coventry University, a decision that allowed me to merge my two main academic interests. The university environment was intellectually stimulating, and I had the opportunity to explore both the literary world of English and the expressive, creative world of theatre. Throughout my degree, I honed my writing, critical analysis, and performance skills, which culminated in me graduating with First-Class Honours.
