Hi! I'm Tom, 22 years old, and currently a student at the university of Birmingham studying chemical engineering at a masters level. I'm very enthusiastic about anything maths and science, bringing practical engineering application to life. I live in the heart of north wales, love to swim and play football. I attended the Kings school Chester for both secondary school and sixth form. I obtained seven grade 9's, two grade 8's and an A* in further maths (10 A*s in old money). At sixth form, I obtained an A* in maths and chemistry, and an A in physics at A level. I then went on to study chemical engineering at the University of Birmingham, averaging a first-class honours degree in my first three years. I am now currently going into my final year to obtain an integrated masters degree.

I’m an ESL teacher with eight years of experience, and I genuinely enjoy helping students become more confident in using English. Over the years, I’ve worked with different types of learners, so I’ve learned how to adjust my teaching style depending on what my students need. Outside the classroom, I volunteer in my community, especially working with youth. This is something very important to me because I believe education can really change lives. It also helped me become more patient, understanding, and connected to the real challenges students face. I’m very interested in learning more about education and social issues. I like reading books and doing my own research because I want to improve not just as a teacher, but also as a person. I try to bring these insights into my lessons so they feel more meaningful and relatable. I also love traveling because it helps me experience different cultures and perspectives, which I think is important when teaching language. As a person, I’m goal-oriented and organized, but I also try to stay flexible depending on the situation. I always reflect on my teaching and look for ways to improve. My main goal is to support my students, help them grow, and make learning English something they feel confident and comfortable with. As a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English, I am passionate about helping students discover the power of language and develop their confidence in expressing themselves. Teaching, for me, is not just about lessons—it’s about inspiring curiosity, encouraging critical thinking, and connecting learning to students’ everyday lives. I love making English engaging by sharing stories, reading books, and exploring creative ways for students to practice communication.
