Hi, I’m Maja! (Pronounced Maya). I’m an astrophysics graduate and a qualified secondary school science teacher. I’ve been through the full rollercoaster of science education, from fighting my way through a master’s degree and emerging with first-class honours, to teaching Year 9s on a Friday afternoon who would rather be anywhere else. Now I help GCSE and A-Level students believe what I already know: you can do this. My goal is to make science feel understandable, interesting, and even a bit fun. When I’m not teaching, you'll find me hanging upside down on an aerial hoop, or writing stories inspired by science and folklore. I went to secondary school in Hungary, where I was initially more interested in the humanities, until I fell in love with space and modern physics. For my leaving qualifications, I completed Advanced Exams in Mathematics and Physics and achieved an A. At university, I completed an integrated Master of Physics degree at the University of Southampton. My first three years focused on general physics (including lab work, mechanics, quantum physics, solid state physics, and wave physics) with a few modules of astronomy. During my master’s year, I had the incredible opportunity to conduct research at the Harvard & Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, where I studied the relationship between black holes and their host galaxies and wrote my thesis on this topic. I graduated with first-class honours in Astrophysics. After university, I felt drawn to education and wanted to help students grasp the beauty of science, so I completed a year of school-centred initial teacher training. I now hold a PGCE with QTS as a qualified science teacher.

Hello, I’m Elchanne Mae A. Ricafort, a Licensed Professional Teacher, a Values Education major, and a cum laude graduate. I have teaching experience with both college and high school students, which has allowed me to work with learners from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles. In my classes, students can expect interactive discussions, fun activities, and practical examples that make learning meaningful and enjoyable. I also use various tools and resources to support every learner’s growth. My edge as a teacher lies in my background in Values Education and my commitment to nurturing not only academic growth, but also character, empathy, and ethical responsibility. I believe education should shape both the mind and the heart. A little about me personally—I dance to celebrate life, write poems to capture my thoughts and feelings, and cook as my love language, because I believe the best experiences are those shared with others. Hi! I’m Sunderani, an Accounting and Finance student at the University of Birmingham with two years of tutoring experience, both privately and in a school setting. I really enjoy helping students build their confidence, improve their understanding and achieve results they’re proud of. I achieved excellent GCSE results, including grade 9s in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Spanish and Drama and grade 8s in Physics, English Language and English Literature. I also achieved an A* in my Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Alongside university, I completed a year-long placement at Deloitte in external audit, where I developed my analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. I’ve also started my ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant) qualification and successfully completed six exams so far. These experiences have strengthened my ability to break down complex information and explain it clearly, which I bring into my tutoring. I teach all KS3 subjects, a wide range of GCSE subjects and A-level Maths, Business and Chemistry. I’m familiar with all exam boards and hold an enhanced DBS certificate. Having been through GCSEs and A-levels myself, I understand how stressful exams can be and how much difference the right support can make. I adapt my lessons to suit each student’s learning style, whether that’s breaking down difficult concepts, practising exam questions or improving exam technique. I’m friendly, patient and approachable and I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. My goal is not just to help students improve their grades, but to make them feel genuinely confident in their abilities! I am currently studying BSc Accounting and Finance with a Placement Year at the University of Birmingham. As part of my degree, I completed a year-long placement as a Senior Audit Associate at Deloitte, where I gained valuable professional experience in financial analysis, problem-solving and communicating complex information clearly. I have also begun studying towards the ICAEW Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification and have successfully completed six examinations so far. Prior to university, I attended an Independent School in London on a scholarship, where I studied A-level Mathematics, Business and Chemistry, alongside an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), for which I achieved an A*. I achieved excellent GCSE results, including grade 9s in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Spanish and Drama, grade 8s in Physics, English Language and English Literature. I also achieved an A in my Higher Project Qualification (HPQ). Alongside my academic studies, I have two years of tutoring experience, both privately and within a school environment, supporting students across different subjects and abilities. I also hold a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) qualification and have completed first aid training. My academic background, professional experience and tutoring experience have given me a strong foundation in a wide range of subjects, as well as the ability to explain challenging concepts clearly and adapt my approach to different learning styles.

I am currently a second year student, studying Chemistry at the University of Surrey. I have strong foundational qualifications in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at A-Level. My problem solving and quantitative skills will be useful in helping explain difficult concepts to a variety of students. Outside of studying I enjoy Judo and rock climbing which has built my resilience and other skills. I am currently a second year Chemistry Student at the University of Surrey. I have completed qualifications in Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A level grade. I also gained qualifications in a wide range of GCSE subjects, including English, Maths and Science.
