Hi, I’m Fathima Shoudha, an enthusiastic and dedicated online mathematics teacher with a deep passion for inspiring students to see the beauty and logic behind numbers. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, a discipline that strengthened my analytical skills and deepened my understanding of logical and quantitative reasoning. Throughout my academic journey, I consistently performed well in Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations, particularly in mathematics and science-based subjects, which provided me with a solid foundation in problem-solving and critical thinking. During my studies, I became deeply interested in the educational process itself — how students learn best and how effective teaching methods can turn complex subjects into approachable concepts. This curiosity led me to explore different teaching strategies, including interactive and differentiated instruction, to cater to diverse learning styles. Over time, I realized that my true calling lies in helping students overcome their fear of mathematics and discover the satisfaction of mastering new skills. Welcome to my profile. I teach 11+, GCSE Science (physics, chemistry, and biology), and Mathematics. I use notes and revision resources that have been carefully tailored to each student's specific needs. With their exam board content, revision/practice questions, and particularly repeated past papers, I have been able to instill confidence, critical thinking, and a genuine understanding of the subject in all of my students while ensuring they enjoy the process. I look forward to beginning this journey with you. I have over 4 years (1000+ hours) of experience teaching these subjects: GCSE Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), Mathematics, and 11+. I hold a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering and an international teaching certificate (TESOL). I bring both academic expertise and practical teaching experience to my lessons. Having achieved top grades (A**) in GCSE Mathematics, Physics, and Biology, I understand the challenges students face and tailor my teaching to help them succeed. I create a friendly and interactive learning space where everyone feels comfortable. *Empowering Students to Reach their Potential as a Dedicated Tutor I specialise in helping students excel in GCSE and A Level Maths & Business Studies, boosting their confidence and surpassing their academic targets. With a track record of guiding students to achieve grades from C to A*, I focus on unlocking each student's potential. With nearly 10 years of experience in one-to-one tuition, I am well-versed in the latest GCSE and A Level Maths specifications across exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, IGCSE, CIE IGCSE & TMUA. *Teaching Approach* Understanding each student’s unique needs and capabilities is central to my teaching. I aim to make maths relatable by delving into the logic and structure behind the concepts, which not only aids in problem-solving but also builds confidence and independence. Many of my students achieve their predicted grades months before their final exams, often exceeding their original goals. *Philosophy & Strategy* My teaching philosophy is to be patient, to understand the students' need and learning capability to encourage them to be the best they can be. I also like to provide an understanding of how the maths works on a fundamental level by providing the knowledge on the logic and structure. This way my students are not only taught how to answer questions, but why we answer the way we do. I believe this can be highly encouraging and help build confidence in the subject overall. Attended Staffordshire University between 2006 and 2001. During this time I achieved a BA Hons 2.1 in Business Studies and an MSc Pass in Marketing. During this time I helped International students understand subject material who found lectures too fast paced. It was during this time that I realised 1 to 1 tuition was something I could excel at.

--- About Me! --- I'm Danny, a 4th year physicist at the University of Edinburgh, currently undergoing a research year abroad working on a thesis at GSI/FAIR, a facility for high energy physics. My work involves a lot of programming, knowledge of physics, and application of engineering and design principles. I love inspiring others and talking about my subject, so any student who comes my way will hopefully leave feeling confident, ready for common exam questions, and most importantly, wanting to learn more beyond their curriculum. I play the violin to a diploma standard, love trying out new cooking recipes (sometimes with disastrous consequences), and really enjoy mountain sports, like climbing and hiking. --- My Education --- As mentioned above, I am a physicist at the University of Edinburgh on a year in industry at GSI. I am working on the upcoming DIRC particle detectors for the PANDA project and the EIC at Brookhaven (google these things, in my opinion they are very cool). This research of course involves knowing a bunch about programming, mathematics and physics! I achieved 4 A* grades at A-Level, in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Music, with the WJEC exam board. For these grades, I abused my poor printer, drilling past paper questions endlessly, so I am very familiar with this specific curriculum. However, mathematics and physics are very similar across all exam boards. There are common questions in every exam, and your child will become familiar and confident with these questions with me, ideally able to reproduce 'stock answers' with a high level of understanding and speed. This saves time in exams and guarantees easy marks; this is a major step in reducing exam anxiety, and one of the main strategies I used to achieve my marks. I taught a STEM program at a US summer camp. It was much more of a 'for fun' thing, so we focused on making classes lightweight and enjoyable, rather than drilling worksheets and past paper questions. As such, I won't exclusively bore tutees to death with math problems! I pride myself on being able to break down concepts into simple to understand analogies. I am also a huge advocate for using past questions as revision material. However, I recognise the importance for students to balance time spent on questions with going over textbook concepts.
