Hi there! My name is Luke, and I live in Oxfordshire, England. I am available to tutor for all subjects at primary level, as well as English and Media Studies up until A-level, and History to GCSE. Until recently I was working as a primary school teacher, but decided on a change in career direction. I have a degree in Film Studies with English Literature from the University of Southampton, as well as a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education from Oxford Brookes. I have experience teaching children of all ages (plus adults), and have worked with students from all across the globe. Although I am happy tutoring in all subjects, my areas of passion are English, History and Media Studies. In my spare time I love to read, play strategy games, and watch Taskmaster on Channel 4! After 20 years of secondary school classroom teaching in English and History, I am branching out into online teaching. I taught in London, at Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and have since taught in South Africa, in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. I run Parkrun, grow and sell organic vegetables, and enjoy wilderness walking. After A Bachelor of Arts in History and English, at Wits University in Johannesburg in 1984, I did a postgraduate Higher Diploma in Education, in English and History. I then taught in London and South Africa for nine years, during which time I qualified with a Bachelor of Education in Applied Linguistics, from Wits University. In 1998, my family and I went to Vancouver, British Columbia, for me to study a Masters Degree in Theology. We returned to SA in 2002. In 2016, I graduated with a PhD in History, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I am currently enrolled for my TTA TEFL certificate, Level 5, to qualify and teach EFL, from April 2025.

I have a PhD in physics from Newcastle University. I was a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). I am therefore highly qualified to teach STEM subjects. I have extensive experience (100 hours) teaching Maths to GCSE students online. I have also taught Physics and Maths to A Level students for several years during summer schools. I have also led modules for undergraduate students in Physics at all stages. I enjoy building a connection with my students and tailoring my sessions to suit their needs. I am able to breakdown complex problems into bitesize pieces to ensure that students can make tangible progress in a short amount of time and build their confidence. PhD in Physics - Newcastle University Visiting Researcher - University of Cambridge BSc in Applied Physics (Minor in Computer Science) - City University of Hong Kong Visiting Researcher - Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) Undergraduate Exchange Student - University College London (UCL)

Levels and subjects I teach: GCSE: Maths A Level: Maths, Biology Exam Board Experience: Further Maths - Edexcel Maths - Edexcel Chemistry - AQA Biology - AQA Language: English Preferred Student age group: GCSE & A-level Hi, my name is Michael. I am a friendly, patient and determined tutor. I recently finished my A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. I believe that this experience puts me in a great position to share my knowledge to help other students because I know what is needed in order to excel in these subjects. I always like to focus on what you as a student need help with to ensure that you get the most out of every lesson, and spend as much time making progress as possible I would describe myself as methodical and systematic and I think my teaching style reflects this. First, I like to ensure that there is an understanding of the key principles of the topic. Then I like to break questions down and look at the key steps in the method for that question type. I think that repetition is extremely important and the key to mastering a particular topic is encountering as many different variations of questions as possible. So this is what I will encourage. I have previous experience teaching other students from my school A-level maths concepts which they struggled with. While preparing for A-levels I created some resources that enabled me to achieve 4 A*s in the subjects above and have helped other students. I would be happy to share these and other strategies I used in preparation for exams. Outside of academics, I am a relaxed person and enjoy a wide range of sports, my favourites being football and basketball. I also enjoy reading and spending time with family. Feel free to message me with any questions.
