Hi! My name's Rebecca, and I am a soon-to-be PhD Student, specialising in computational chemistry. I have just finished an integrated master's in Natural Sciences at Cambridge, meaning I've studied Physics and Chemistry at a university level. I have experience supporting university admissions, where I volunteered on open days, school visits, and summer schools throughout my undergraduate studies. A big part of this was small group teaching of year 12s, where we started at A-level content and developed to first-year undergraduate topics. I have also worked as a mentor on Cambridge's STEM SMART programme for Year 12 students. This widening participation program focused on pastoral support for students from low-income backgrounds looking to apply to top universities in the STEM subjects. I am a tutor because I love teaching just as much as I love science, but also because the current A-level system doesn't show you how valuable the knowledge you learn is to the field. I am hoping that together, we'll not only get the grade you want but that I'll also help you appreciate how important the things you learn are in the world of science! My tutoring style focuses on visual learning and understanding the basics rather than relying on memorisation. I focus on helping you grasp the core principles and building up from there. When you truly understand the fundamentals, you can confidently approach any question because you know how it all fits together. Understanding is only one part of the process; practice makes perfect. We'll also focus on exam technique, specifically what the examiners from your exam board want from you and how best to approach the exam. In my spare time, I love to cook, paint and sew! I currently tutor Maths (GCSE and A-level) and Chemistry (A-level). I’ve always loved maths and science. I took two additional maths qualifications during my GCSEs and regularly competed in UKMT challenges. At A-level, I studied Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, and Physics, which is where I realised my real passion lay in the physical sciences. I went on to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge, a broad and rigorous course that allowed me to explore a wide range of scientific subjects before specialising. I took Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, and Applied Maths in my first year. In second year, I continued with Chemistry and also studied the History and Philosophy of Science (a bit of a wildcard choice, but one I found genuinely fascinating). I eventually specialised in Chemistry, focusing mainly on theoretical and quantum chemistry, a field that merges the logical structure of physics with the molecular insight of chemistry. I graduated with a 2.1 in my undergraduate degree and decided to stay on for a fourth year to complete my integrated Master’s. My final-year research was in computational chemistry, where I simulated how proteins behave under different conditions. This work sat at the interface of chemistry, physics, and biology, allowing me to apply concepts from across the sciences. It was fully computer-based (a massive plus - I’ve never been a fan of lab work!) and I was proud to finish the year with a First. I loved the experience so much that I wasn’t quite ready to leave academia. I’m now about to begin a PhD at King’s College London, researching novel bio-based materials (ideally with minimal time spent in the lab)! My undergraduate journey wasn’t without challenges. Cambridge is tough, and I was diagnosed with dyslexia after receiving unexpectedly low marks in my first-year exams. My performance steadily improved as I learned how to work with my learning style. I’ve always been a visual and hands-on learner, which likely explains why Chemistry felt so natural to me. My academic ups and downs have deeply influenced how I approach tutoring - I understand what it’s like to struggle despite working hard, and empathy helps me support my students more effectively. I believe that learning should be about building accurate understanding, not just memorising facts, and I strive to make that a reality in every session I teach.

Hello! My name is Ekom. I am an online tutor specializing in the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Psychology. I help students understand these subjects, making learning easier for them. My goal is to ensure my students achieve their dream grades. In my free time, I enjoy simple pleasures like eating snacks and watching TV. My ideal relax time involves enjoying a bowl of popcorn while bingeing Friends, these moments help me cool off after a busy day. Overall, I am dedicated to my work as a Tutor. I am always excited to learn new things and share my knowledge with others. Together, let's learn and get those excellent grades you desire! I have always had a passion for learning, especially in the fields of Science and Language. My educational journey started with a strong interest in the Sciences, particularly Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. These subjects interested me and I enjoyed learning of how the world works, from the smallest particles to the complexities of life. I decided to pursue these subjects in depth, gaining a strong foundation in each of them. In addition to my Science studies, I also focused on English and Psychology. English has always been an area of interest for me, I enjoy reading and writing. Understanding the nuances of language has helped me become a better communicator, which is essential in my work as a Tutor. Psychology, on the other hand, interested me and it has helped me understand human behavior, which is valuable in my professional and personal life. As an Online Tutor, I teach Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Psychology. I help students understand these subjects and improve their grades by making learning easy and fun. My background in these subjects has given me the knowledge and skills to effectively teach students at various levels.

I've been a tutor four years now, helping dozens of students. If you are interested, I'd be happy to put you in contact with some of them so that you can chat about anything you're interested. I'll work with you in conversation, which'll brings us intellectually close to each other. This allows empathy to guide the learning process. One of the challenges I often face is answering an insightful question. If I'm not able to do it independently, I focus on relating to you through a simpler concept we are both familiar with. By breaking this concept down into smaller pieces and unveiling our own understanding of it, we enlighten ourselves. The thing I enjoy most about teaching is learning about you. I help with a tough concept or methodology by relating my presentation to how you reckon already known matters. This process will familiarize us with your subject's topics. This is the reason why we'll mostly avoid memorizing stuff. - Do you find lectures boring? If so, you'll find my lessons a perfect fit! Our lessons won't be old-school. Whether you're cutting your teeth with tuition or not, you'll be in conversation with me. As your tutor, I'll share thoughts back and forth and build our understanding of your subject's concepts and methods. - Do you find yourself in stupor at school? From our very first class, I'll lead you to explore and become your own coach, so that you can see results after the first two weeks. We don't need to learn by heart most of the things required to pass with flying colors. As your mentor, I pursue with fervor the breaking down of concepts and getting to the bottom of them. Once we achieve this, you won't have to revise said concepts ever again. - What if you find exams particularly tough? Isn't it annoying when you know the material but still can't get those marks? I offer exam preparation and methods to get those precious marks. We'll read the questions together and work on writing expression. See you soon in the classroom! ===== ** NOTE ** - taking only students that are interested in 3 lessons per week or more ===== - Subjects I teach: - Lower level: Writing, History, Physical Ed. - GCSE: Writing, Computer Science, Physical Ed. - AS-level: Writing, Math, Biology and Physics. - A-Level: Biology. - Languages: Spanish (native speaker) and English as a second language. I completed Secondary School in Life Sciences and hold a Vocational School Diploma in Biomedical Science. I took first-year University courses in Chemistry and Engineering. These included subjects like Physics, Biology, Statistics, Algebra, Calculus, etc. Lastly, I'm a self-taught personal trainer. Throughout this particular academic endeavour, I studied biomechanics and anatomy, with a solid knowledge of their application to weightlifting.
