Hi! My name is Mariyah, a friendly and dedicated Maths tutor currently on my gap year after completing my A-levels. I’m passionate about helping students build confidence and reach their full potential in both GCSE Maths and 11+ preparation. Having recently been through the exam process myself, I understand how to explain topics clearly, boost exam technique, and make lessons engaging and approachable. My sessions are tailored to each student’s learning style, focusing on building understanding and confidence step by step. I have recently completed my A-levels at St Clement Danes, studying Maths, Physics and Chemistry, getting BCC. These subjects have strengthened my critical thinking skills, making me have a deeper appreciation for how much we use these subjects every day. Having done the exams, I understand the struggles the students face and how to support them.

Hi! I'm Michaelangelos, a mathematics graduate from the University of St Andrews (MMath) and incoming PhD student at the University of Glasgow. I've been tutoring maths for several years, including Higher and National 5, and it's something I genuinely love doing. What I care most about is helping students build real confidence and intuition, not just memorise steps. Maths can feel intimidating, and I get a lot of satisfaction from being the person who helps make it click, whether that's turning anxiety into understanding, or helping a curious student go further than they thought possible. I'm equally excited to work with students who find maths difficult and scary as I am to work with those who want to push themselves and become really strong mathematically. I am currently an incoming PhD student at the University of Glasgow, where my research focuses on dissecting neural networks, specifically regarding optimisation and generalisation. Prior to this, I completed an Integrated Master of Mathematics (MMath) at the University of St Andrews. During my time at St Andrews, I was placed on the Dean's List consecutively and achieved first-class averages in my final two years of study. I also spent an exchange year at Western University during the 2024-2025 academic year. My academic background is deeply rooted in advanced mathematics and computational science. My master’s dissertation, which earned a 90% grade and was highly commended for the Duncan Prize, focused on a posteriori methods for error control via the reconstruction technique. My key areas of study have included stochastic dynamics, statistical machine learning, financial mathematics, neural networks, and data analytics consulting. Through these experiences, I have developed strong technical proficiencies in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, SQL, and R, along with various machine learning frameworks.

I hold a Master's degree in Mechatronics Engineering and a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, with a strong foundation in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. With experience in tutoring both school and university students, I focus on strengthening conceptual understanding and exam techniques. My teaching approach is structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s learning style to help them excel confidently. I have pursued my education entirely within the British curriculum, starting with my GCE O Levels and A Levels. Throughout my academic journey, Physics has remained a core subject, both in theoretical and applied forms, including mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and control systems.
