My name is Katy and I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Politics & Modern History. I have been living in Spain & France so am fluent in both languages whilst tutoring to a wide range of ages for the past few years. I am calm, interactive and experienced and enjoy working with students to help achieve their goals. I am TEFL certified, and have plenty of experience with all GCSE & A level examination boards. With regards to languages, I am able to support students in all aspects of exam preparation, from reading & writing to speaking & listening. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Modern History & Politics from the University of Manchester in 2021, where I specialised in Russian & Chinese history, as well as Modern African history, whilst including modules in advanced Spanish. I completed the International Baccalaureate where I studied a range of subjects including History, Spanish, French, English literature, Physics and Maths.

I am entering my third year of General Engineering at the University of Sheffield, specialising in Systems & Control. I tutor Maths and Physics and enjoy breaking own complex topics, into clear, simple steps. I have always loved helping others understand what I have learned, and I am passionate about creating a friendly, supportive learning space where students can build confidence and reach their goals. I am patient, encouraging, and dedicated to making lessons engaging and effective. I completed my A Levels in Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Engineering at UTC Sheffield achieving AAA and a Distinction* in Engineering. I am currently studying for an integrated Master's in General Engineering (MEng) at the University of Sheffield. I am entering my third year in September in which I will be specialising in Systems & Control. My studies cover a wide range of topics including mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical circuits, computing, programming, control theory etc.

--- About Me! --- I'm Danny, a 4th year physicist at the University of Edinburgh, currently undergoing a research year abroad working on a thesis at GSI/FAIR, a facility for high energy physics. My work involves a lot of programming, knowledge of physics, and application of engineering and design principles. I love inspiring others and talking about my subject, so any student who comes my way will hopefully leave feeling confident, ready for common exam questions, and most importantly, wanting to learn more beyond their curriculum. I play the violin to a diploma standard, love trying out new cooking recipes (sometimes with disastrous consequences), and really enjoy mountain sports, like climbing and hiking. --- My Education --- As mentioned above, I am a physicist at the University of Edinburgh on a year in industry at GSI. I am working on the upcoming DIRC particle detectors for the PANDA project and the EIC at Brookhaven (google these things, in my opinion they are very cool). This research of course involves knowing a bunch about programming, mathematics and physics! I achieved 4 A* grades at A-Level, in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Music, with the WJEC exam board. For these grades, I abused my poor printer, drilling past paper questions endlessly, so I am very familiar with this specific curriculum. However, mathematics and physics are very similar across all exam boards. There are common questions in every exam, and your child will become familiar and confident with these questions with me, ideally able to reproduce 'stock answers' with a high level of understanding and speed. This saves time in exams and guarantees easy marks; this is a major step in reducing exam anxiety, and one of the main strategies I used to achieve my marks. I taught a STEM program at a US summer camp. It was much more of a 'for fun' thing, so we focused on making classes lightweight and enjoyable, rather than drilling worksheets and past paper questions. As such, I won't exclusively bore tutees to death with math problems! I pride myself on being able to break down concepts into simple to understand analogies. I am also a huge advocate for using past questions as revision material. However, I recognise the importance for students to balance time spent on questions with going over textbook concepts.

Hi, I’m Sophie Rose, an enthusiastic and dedicated math teacher! I love helping students explore the world of mathematics in engaging and innovative ways. My goal is to make learning math exciting through interactive activities, real-world applications, and stimulating problem-solving sessions that spark curiosity and build confidence in my students. In my free time, I enjoy solving puzzles and playing chess, which keeps my mind sharp and creative throughout the day. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and Biotechnology, where I developed strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills. My scientific background has enhanced my logical reasoning and precision, which I now apply to teaching Mathematics. I create engaging, inquiry-based lessons that connect mathematical concepts to real-world and scientific contexts, cater to diverse learning styles, and foster a supportive environment where every student can build confidence and achieve success.
