Hi! I'm Michaelangelos, a mathematics graduate from the University of St Andrews (MMath) and incoming PhD student at the University of Glasgow. I've been tutoring maths for several years, including Higher and National 5, and it's something I genuinely love doing. What I care most about is helping students build real confidence and intuition, not just memorise steps. Maths can feel intimidating, and I get a lot of satisfaction from being the person who helps make it click, whether that's turning anxiety into understanding, or helping a curious student go further than they thought possible. I'm equally excited to work with students who find maths difficult and scary as I am to work with those who want to push themselves and become really strong mathematically. Whatever your starting point, I'll meet you there. I am currently an incoming PhD student at the University of Glasgow, where my research focuses on dissecting neural networks, specifically regarding optimisation and generalisation. Prior to this, I completed an Integrated Master of Mathematics (MMath) at the University of St Andrews. During my time at St Andrews, I was placed on the Dean's List consecutively and achieved first-class averages in my final two years of study. I also spent an exchange year at Western University during the 2024-2025 academic year. My academic background is deeply rooted in advanced mathematics and computational science. My master’s dissertation, which earned a 90% grade and was highly commended for the Duncan Prize, focused on a posteriori methods for error control via the reconstruction technique. My key areas of study have included stochastic dynamics, statistical machine learning, financial mathematics, neural networks, and data analytics consulting. Through these experiences, I have developed strong technical proficiencies in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, SQL, and R, along with various machine learning frameworks.

I’m Tara Patel, a dedicated and passionate Math teacher I love making math engaging and meaningful by connecting lessons to real-life situations and using interactive activities that spark curiosity. My goal is to help you build confidence in problem-solving and truly enjoy working with numbers. I am a First-Class Computer Systems Engineering graduate. Mathematics and Computing have been central to both my academic journey and professional experience. With 11 years of teaching and tutoring experience across GCSE and A-Level, I have developed a strong understanding of the UK curriculum and the common challenges students face. I enjoy helping students move from confusion to clarity by breaking complex topics into structured, logical steps. Beyond improving grades, my goal is to help students build confidence and develop deep, sustained understanding. I believe Mathematics and Computing should feel logical and empowering — not intimidating. I completed my BSc in Computer Systems Engineering at the University of Westminster, graduating with First-Class Honours. My degree gave me a strong foundation in programming (Python, C++, C, VHDL and Assembly), embedded systems, microcontrollers, hardware design and robotics.
