Hello! My name is Emma, and I am a second-year Accounting and Finance student at Lancaster University. I achieved 9 GCSEs, ranging from 7-9, which allowed me to study Chemistry, Economics and Maths. I also gained an A* in my EPQ, which I completed in year 12, giving me crucial skills that I have carried forward to my degree. I have been tutoring for 8 months. During this time, I have helped prepare primary school students for their SATS and gained more confidence with maths in the classroom. I also prepared year 11 and 13 students for their GCSE and A levels by covering content they were unsure of and practising exam techniques. I previously gained experience mentoring GCSE students at my school. I am a student with dyslexia, so I understand the challenges students face in classroom settings. Anyone can be successful, which is why my sessions are student-led, so that they are catered towards each individual's learning style. If you are unsure of this throughout my school career, I have learnt different methods that work for me and would love to pass them on to others so that we can find a technique that works for you. I attended Rugby School, where I completed my GCSEs and A levels, and now I have gone on to study for a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance at Lancaster University, where my ambition is to become an ACA Chartered Accountant. Having studied Chemistry, Economics and Maths at A level, I offer tutoring for students up to and including year 11 in Maths and Chemistry and then Economics up to and including year 13 students.

As a third-year medical student at Imperial College London, I bring a wealth of knowledge in the sciences, particularly in biology, chemistry, and anatomy, coupled with a deep understanding of effective learning strategies. My academic journey began at Sullivan Upper School in Northern Ireland, where I achieved A* grades in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and was honored with distinctions such as being in the top 5 percentile in A-level Mathematics and earning a Silver Award in the Chemistry Olympiad. These academic achievements have been the foundation of my commitment to excellence and my passion for fostering a love for learning in others. At Imperial College London, I continue to grow academically and professionally, taking on leadership roles such as Vice President of several societies, including the Cardiology Society and the Pharmacology Society, and serving as the National Conference Lead for the Society of Research and Academia. In addition to my academic pursuits, I have extensive tutoring experience. As a private tutor with Tutor Hunt, I have provided one-on-one instruction tailored to each student’s strengths and needs. My role as a lecturer at Med-Ed involved creating high-quality teaching materials and supporting first-year medical students in their academic growth. Additionally, I have delivered presentations and taught at conferences, further honing my ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and engage diverse audiences.

I am an experienced Mathematics & Computer Science tutor. With my last cohort of students, I witnessed exponential improvements with students fluency and confidence. I have over three years experience in teaching. I have extensive teaching experience with students aged 5 – 18 and I have helped students to obtain the highest grades at KS1 – KS3 & GCSE. I can also provide coaching for career related advice and support with college and university applications. I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate. As well as using published materials, I provide bespoke materials for students based on examination questions so that they are able to develop their mathematical or computer science fluency and problem-solving skills. At the end of each session, students receive detailed notes of work covered, either in Word, PowerPoint or Microsoft Whiteboard format. I aim to make my sessions engaging, bringing in interactive elements and whiteboards as much as possible especially for my younger students in order to create a simulated, real-life fun experience with each hour. I hold a 1st Class Degree in Computer Science from The University of Birmingham. I also completed Maths, Computer Science and Economics A-levels, attaining an AAB respectively. I also hold strong GCSE grades covering Maths, English, Science, History and particularly completing ICT at a a grade A*

Alongside my English Literature degree, I am a competitive middle-distance athlete and worked within the executive team, as VP of Sport, on my college committee at the University of York. I also enjoyed my role as a course ambassador, speaking to prospective students and parents at open days about studying English at Undergraduate level and university life in general. While at University, I began teaching English Literature and Language via zoom, primarily to GCSE students, with the hope of tutoring at A-Level too. My sessions are always based on the personal areas that each individual student wishes to focus on, to consolidate or enhance their understanding of the given topic. I am patient and understanding, so promise to support each student at their own pace and be not only a tutor, but also a reassuring support-system to whom they can direct any questions or queries. I hope to guide and support other students in their personal academic goals, through a focus on exam technique, revision methods and coping with the potential stress that may arise during exam season, to help get the best out of each individual. I recently graduated from the University of York with a First class honours degree in English and Related Literature. My modules covered an expansive geographical and temporal range from Latin Literature and the Middle Ages, to the Renaissance and 20th Century American Literature. In my A-Levels, I achieved 3x A*s in English Literature, History and Latin. In my GCSEs, I achieved a grade 9 in the following subjects: English Literature, English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Latin, History, Religious Studies and Computer Science, with an 8 in Chemistry.
