I am Jithmi Linara and I am currently a third-year student pursuing Aerospace engineering at the University of Liverpool. I am a very passionate and enthusiastic individual, and I would also say very hardworking. I do love swimming and spend an hour or two in the water when I have some free time. As a National swimmer, swimming has always been my burning passion. The experience of representing my motherland at various championships in the sporting arena has also taught me to relish challenges and work together with my teammates to achieve a common goal. I was the headhouse prefect and student representative at my school and this role as a leader made me what I am today. I was and still am a public speaker, I also have the ability to speak and communicate effectively with diverse groups of people with respect. I teach senior high school mathematics at all levels, from foundational to advanced. With years of experience as a government tax specialist and roles as a system analyst, programmer, and statistician in IT, I transitioned to teaching, which has always been my passion. I began tutoring in college to support my expenses and discovered the rewarding challenge of working with a student with dyscalculia. Through tailored strategies and building strong rapport, she succeeded. My diverse background has made me resourceful and innovative, enhancing my effectiveness in both teaching and problem-solving. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from St. Scholastica’s College, Manila, where I completed challenging courses such as Calculus, Statistical Analysis, Number Theory, and Linear Algebra. I also pursued post-graduate studies in Mathematics Education at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, focusing on educational strategies and child development, with research on learning disabilities.
