Getting into this course at a Russel Group University required stellar GCSE and A Level grades which I was able to achieve through thorough and dedicated studies and personal teaching. I believe that active learning through frequent recall, question and answer sessions and flashcards is the best way to retain information. Combining this with practice paper questions from the start of teaching guarantees success. Hello there! I'm Dorothy Jean Acedo, and I'm a dedicated and enthusiastic math teacher. I absolutely love helping students discover that math isn't just about numbers—it's a world of puzzles and possibilities! My mission is to make our lessons feel less like a chore and more like a fun challenge. We'll use games, real-life examples, and collaborative activities to make even the trickiest topics click. When I'm not teaching, I love to get out into nature for a hike or take photos, which reminds me that the world is full of beautiful patterns, just like math. I'm a licensed professional teacher and TEFL-certified educator with a degree in Secondary Education, Major in Mathematics. With over seven years of experience in the classroom, I've developed a strong foundation in teaching strategies that make learning accessible and fun for every student. I am a final-year Biomedical Science student at the University of Wolverhampton with several years of tutoring experience working with KS2, KS3 and GCSE students in both Maths and English. I have supported students with a range of learning needs including ADHD, dyslexia and low confidence in core subjects. My teaching style is patient, encouraging and tailored to each student’s pace, focusing on building understanding step-by-step rather than memorisation alone. I regularly use exam-style questions, retrieval practice and interactive explanations to help students improve both confidence and grades.
