I'm Randy Miller, a passionate and dedicated mathematics educator committed to making math meaningful and memorable. I am a BSc Biochemistry graduate from the University of Birmingham and an incoming first-year medical student at the University of Dundee. I offer tutoring specifically in GCSE Biology and GCSE Chemistry, using my strong academic background in both subjects to help students understand difficult concepts and improve their confidence. I aim to make complex scientific topics clear and manageable, while also focusing on exam technique, past-paper questions, and effective revision strategies. I have graduated from the University of Birmingham with a 2:1 BSc in Biochemistry and am now beginning my first year of Medicine at the University of Dundee. During my degree, I studied areas including molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, metabolism and organic chemistry. I also developed practical laboratory skills, scientific writing and experience analysing and presenting experimental data. My interest in tutoring began at secondary school, where I worked as a Science Tutor supporting GCSE students in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I focused on identifying why students might not be achieving the grades they were aiming for, whether this was due to difficulty understanding certain concepts, gaps in their knowledge or challenges with exam technique. I could then tailor my support to address the specific issue. This experience taught me the importance of recognising different learning styles. For visual learners, I used diagrams and visual representations to make scientific processes easier to understand. For students who benefited more from verbal learning, I used simple language and broke complex concepts down step by step. I also created clear and digestible revision resources to make large topics feel more manageable and help students revise independently. At university, I volunteered in drop-in sessions supporting first-year Biochemistry students, particularly with writing laboratory reports and using RStudio for data presentation and analysis. Having already completed first year myself, I was able to draw on my own experiences and mistakes to help students avoid similar difficulties and develop more effective approaches to their work. Alongside my final year of Biochemistry, I completed the demanding medical school application process. This involved preparing my application and personal statement, studying for the UCAT and preparing extensively for Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs). My interview preparation also required me to develop my understanding of current medical and NHS topics and practise communicating my ideas clearly under pressure. Balancing this preparation with my final-year degree commitments significantly strengthened my time-management, organisation and independent learning skills and ultimately led to me securing a place to study Medicine at the University of Dundee. I also volunteered as a Reading Partner at secondary school, supporting students with dyslexia with their reading and writing. This experience developed my patience and empathy and reinforced that every student progresses differently and may require a different approach. Together, my academic background, science mentoring and experience progressing into medical school have prepared me to provide personalised GCSE Biology and Chemistry tutoring, helping students strengthen their scientific knowledge, improve their exam technique and become more confident in their abilities.

I am a fourth-year medical student with a strong passion for helping others achieve their academic goals. While I was always a relatively capable student, I learned early on that success didn’t come without hard work, sacrifice, and most importantly, support. During a particularly challenging period in my studies, I met a tutor who completely revitalised my passion for learning and helped me reach my potential. That experience shaped who I am today and inspired me to do the same for others. Academically, I achieved three A grades at A Level in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, and all 9s in GCSE in these subjects. Beyond my own studies, I have two years of tutoring experience, beginning in sixth form, where I supported GCSE students across multiple subjects. One example I am especially proud of is helping a student improve from a grade 5 to a grade 8 in GCSE chemistry, by building their confidence, exam technique, and understanding from first principles. My primary role as a tutor is to help you achieve the grades you need and develop a strong, lasting understanding of your subject. However, I also believe learning works best in a supportive environment - so please think of me not just as a tutor, but as someone approachable and encouraging. I attended a comprehensive school until year 10 and then a grammar school from year 10 all the way until year 13. The amazing learning and experiences in both have shaped me to be the man I am today, and enabled me to achieve the grades I needed in GCSE and A-level to now be studying medicine in my 4th year at Aston University. I have over a year of tutoring experience in the sciences and maths from KS2 all the way until A-level and I racked up many 5 star reviews and gave tailored help to each student I taught. Personal academic achievements include being the 2025 winner of the annual Rosalind Franklin essay competition in Aston Medical School completing 2 summer internships in biomedical research and have several research papers in the works for publication.
