Hello! I'm Ashleigh, an experienced English tutor with nearly a decade of teaching experience. I'm here to help you navigate the complexities of language and literature. I’ve always loved literature and enjoy exploring different perspectives through a wide range of genres, from dystopian fiction to poetry. I’m especially drawn to writing poetry that captures people, landscapes, and the natural beauty of Scotland. I also have a keen interest in TV and film, which often inspires the way I think about storytelling and brings a bit of imagination into my lessons. Alongside tutoring, I’m currently completing a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Strathclyde, where I’m developing a novel while researching how storytelling shapes the way we understand relationships and human experiences. I’m also working on a collection of short stories that explore human connections, while continuing to write poetry. My academic journey began at the University of Stirling, where I completed a BA (Hons) in English Studies and later an MLitt in Creative Writing, graduating with distinction. Alongside tutoring, I’m also a published short story writer and poet, a freelance editor, and currently completing a Level 5 TEFL qualification. My teaching style is professional but relaxed, with a focus on building confidence, encouraging independent thinking, and helping students develop the skills they need to succeed. Hello there! Hope you are well. My name is Joshua Hailey and my pronouns are he/him. I have been an online tutor for over three years, and I hope this 'About Me' section gives you an insight into who I am and my teaching style. Before I go into more detail about who I am, I would urge you to read the reviews, (also on this page), from some of my current and past parents whose children I am teaching/have taught! These statements can help you make an informed decision and, (hopefully), choose me as your child's next tutor. I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. I also have a Masters in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. With over three years tutoring experience, a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills, I have challenged and supported students across all educational stages, including primary school pupils right up to A Level students! I want your child to succeed and I truly believe they can do this! My lessons are varied, fun, but get the work done! Education is not 'one size fits all', and online tutoring is the perfect example of this. My sessions will see your child grow from strength to strength, as they learn new concepts and methods of success in their respective subject.
