Hello! I'm Ali. I'm in my third year at the University of Edinburgh, studying English Literature. Having achieved almost 100% in my A level and GCSE English Lit/Lang courses, my goal as a tutor is not only to improve your grades, but provide you with the techniques that beat the system. English is more formulaic than you think, and I can't wait to show you how to ace it all. I'm passionate about drama, cooking and poetry and my favourite book is the Great Gatsby! I am an extremely enthusiastic and positive person. I currently teach English early years, Primary school/Reception year. SEND Primary and Highschool and ESL, with over 25 years experience. Patience is my middle name. I am an energetic and a fun teacher. Using a variety of methods including: auditory, visual, reading/writing, verbal and kinaesthetic movement. I look forward to meeting you, my future student. My academic journey started after high school and continues to present. Studying and learning never stops. It is a part of self growth. I actively ensure I continuously follow CLP. Fields of teaching include: English Reception year, English Primary school, English Primary and Highschool for SEN, SEND and ALN students who are looking to improve their skills in English. I also teach English as a Second language and Business English. An achievement of mine was when one of my students won GOLD at the Shanghai Special Olympics. In January 2025, GoStudent have added AI to GoClass. AI training was completed and is boosting tutoring outcomes.

I’m a passionate physical science teacher with over six years of classroom experience and a strong presence on online tutoring platforms. I absolutely love what I do, and I care deeply about my student’s success. My classes are highly engaging, interactive, and tailored to each learner’s needs. I specialize in breaking down complex scientific concepts into simple, step-by-step explanations that make learning easier and more enjoyable. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my students have those “aha!” moments. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Geology and an Honors degree in Geology, both obtained from the University of Limpopo. I later pursued my passion for teaching by earning a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Witwatersrand. In addition to my academic qualifications, I also hold certificates in Computer Studies as well as Business and Entrepreneurship, which have equipped me with valuable skills beyond the classroom. My diverse educational background allows me to connect scientific knowledge with real-world applications, and it strengthens my ability to deliver engaging, well-rounded lessons to my students.

I teach English Literature and English Language to GCSE aged students. I also teach English as a foreign language to both children and adults. I teach Philosophy, Ethics, and Religious Studies up to GCSE level. I teach English to French students and can speak conversational French to aid this. I tutor students working towards their IELTS qualification. I have a Masters in Mental and Moral Science (Philosophy) from Trinity College, Dublin and am looking to further my formal education in the coming years aside from the countless MOOCs I've taken ranging from Opera to Counter-Terrorism classes. I enjoy Creative Writing and am always penning stories or poetry. I have lived all over the world, love traveling and exploring and look forward to learning how we can incorporate your personal experiences and passions into your studies. I currently live in the South of France with my two young children.
