I am Nibin Kuzhikkamthadam Roy and I'm very interested in applying for the post of Mathematics Teacher. I completed my post-graduate degree in Actuarial Science at the University of Kent, along with a 2.1 in BSc in Mathematics, and I'm working as a Mathematics Teacher at Technology College, Margate. I am confident that I have the requisite skills and the potential to inspire and encourage children of all abilities to reach their full potential. My work experience and academic knowledge allowed me to experience life in a secondary school setting from a teacher's perspective. I enjoyed the way that every day is different and that each child is unique. I have 4 years of classroom teaching experience and worked as the academic head of the mathematics department. I wrote three academic books for that organization. I started teaching when I was studying in year 12, which is my passion. I worked part-time during my post-graduate time in a child park for helping differently-abled young persons. I am a good orator with communication and debate skills and served as a student member of the board of studies at the University of Kent. I was appointed as an innovation council member of Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, and also served as School union chairman and College Union General Secretary at the school and college levels. In my school days, I won the mathematics Olympiad prize. These roles have developed my skills in public speaking, liaising with a large number of people, planning, organizing and taking responsibility for managing programs. Here, I developed key skills which proved extremely useful for their progress e.g., altering my communication to their level of understanding while giving relatable and fun examples, ensuring that the students are actively engaged by asking continuous questions to assess their understanding, and each new lesson I conducted with each student was started with a quick recap of the previous lesson. I noticed that these small steps proved extremely useful in the long run for the child's academic progress. Preferred age group: GCSE (However I can also teach A-level and Primary School children) A bit about myself: I am charismatic and enthusiastic Barts and the London School of Medicine student, with a willingness to learn and grow in any field despite the challenges that may be presented. I consider myself well-rounded, excelling in both academics as well as sport e.g., Football (My favourite!) and have passion for social interaction. Through exposure to tough situations as well as reading books on the topics I have honed my emotional intelligence and communication skills which I have since applied to provide help in various avenues such as education. This has also proved useful when teaching students who's first language isn't English as my fluency in another language allowed my to better understand the students I've worked with. I am a published author who is passionate about writing short stories as means of expressing issues that many children are faced with. One such issue is bullying and I have published a book titled Scars the Bullies and The Bullied which aims to inspire readers to take action against bullying. I will work alongside my students, supporting them along each step of the way so that in the end, they can excel; not solely academically but also in life.
