I have been working as a freelance English tutor since 2023, working with online tutoring companies GoStudent, Edumentors and Tutorful, and Glasgow-based in-person company Clever Tutors. I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a First Class Honours in Drama and Contemporary Performance in 2023, and am currently completing a part-time Master's in Theatre Studies at the University of Glasgow. Having left school in 2019 with an A in Advanced Higher English and seven Highers, I am very familiar with the difficulties many students face when sitting their SQA exams. I have also tutored pupils at the BGE/KS3 stage, working with them on reading, writing and literacy to help them develop important life skills that improve their performance across the curriculum. Before tutoring English, I was an assistant tutor for the LAMDA Acting classes at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness for two years, and served as the CREATIVE Ambassador to Millburn Academy, directing the school drama club for three years. My tutoring style focuses on the student, working with them to identify their needs and goals, creating a learning plan that engages their creativity and providing support beyond the lessons through the setting of homework and challenges to further the student's learning. I always take time to get to know each student on an individual basis to better tailor my lessons to their needs and interests, and I combine a laid-back approachability with structure as needed. Our math teacher Mr. Alper always repeats the topic that is not understood ,begins the lesson at the specified time and manages the process by informing me about the missing aspects of my son.

I started using gostudent for tutoring a few months before my exams for politics and english. both tutors were knowledgable in their subjects and tailored the sessions around what we thought would help me best. they both helped improve my confidence in the subject and it was great to have someone to discuss ideas with and develop my knowledge in the subjects.

At first, I did not look positively because my son is 7 years old and the lessons are online. but I am grateful to them because of our teacher. He teaches at the computer, sometimes by playing games and sometimes by dancing. His English has improved in a short time but most importantly, he likes the lesson. When I say you have an English lesson, he gets happy as if I said we will play a game. I am very, very glad that we are a member here.

What are A-levels?
A-level stands for ‘advanced level’, which gives you a good indication of how difficult they can be. Students usually work towards achieving their A-levels over two years, taking three or four courses in the first year of Sixth Form and three in the second year.
Are A-levels difficult?
The shift from GCSE to A-levels is huge, and many students get caught out as they’re expecting a gentle jump.
A-levels require an increased level of independence. Some kids thrive on this newfound taste of adulthood whereas others take more time to adjust.
What is an A-level exam?
A-level exams take place at the end of each year, with the second-year exam testing content from both years.
Non-exam assessments only make up 20% or less of the final grade. That’s why nailing the exams is crucial.
Who can take A-level exams?
Requirements vary between different schools and colleges, but generally speaking your child will need:
When will your child need help with their A-levels?
Many children benefit from tuition right from the start, as the jump from GCSEs is more like a vertical rock climb than a jog up a hill.
If your child struggles with planning their study time, their tutor can guide them on the best study practices and help create a learning schedule.
Why A-level private tutoring works
When should my child start revising for their A-levels?
How much time is needed will depend upon how much effort your child put in during the year and how hard they found the content. Ideally, leave at least a few months for revision and longer if they are taking more than three A-levels.
How do you revise for A-levels?
Just reading over notes and books isn’t enough to solidify information in the brain. Your child will need a study timetable so they can ensure they have time to revise everything in detail.
Our dedicated A-level online tutors will provide homework and exam papers to practise on and will keep you up-to-date on your child’s progress.
Book your free trial lesson today and breathe a sigh of relief. At GoStudent, we make sure that every one of our professional and experienced A-level tutors has been there, aced that, so your child is in safe hands.
How affordable is private A Levels tuition?
The cost of private A Levels tuition can be as low as £21.99. The price of each individual lesson is dependent on how long your child would like tuition support and how many lessons they take per week. The more they learn, the lower the price of each lesson! Why not book a free trial session for you and your child to see how we can help?
How many other levels does GoStudent offer other than A Levels tuition?
As well as private A Levels tuition, GoStudent can help your child with 11 other levels. Pick from many subjects including Italian, English, Physics. And with GoStudent your child isn't tied into one level. If they are taking A Levels tuition but then need support with a different level, we can help them get that support with a tutor specialised in that level.
