I’m a uni student at the university of Nottingham who loves to help others by using my own education experiences to do so. I consider myself outgoing and I love to meet and talk to new people in all contexts. I like to think that I am a confident and hard working person who is able to convey ideas across and explain things clearly. I am a certified TESOL teacher who studied English at college, and law and business studies at university. I spent three years teaching English in Tokyo, Japan - first for a language school and then in business. Since returning to the UK, I have taught for many different companies and also as a private home tutor. I'm used to teaching adults and children of all ages and am accustomed to working towards examinations. As a tutor, it's important that my student feels comfortable and has confidence in my abilities to help them progress so I have a relaxed manner when teaching but with an eye on reaching targets. So we will look at the areas where you need help, look at your existing approach to learning and work out strategies to get you where you need to be. I enjoy writing and sometimes write content for websites. I'm also great at watching tennis - not so good at playing though. I spent lockdown doing a lot of baking with friends online and caught up on watching some of the films that I'd always been meaning to watch. My teaching style is mostly discussion-based - almost like Socratic questioning. I believe this helps ideas and concepts stay in your mind for longer, as the student is the one that has to do the intellectual heavy lifting.
