Hello there! 😃 I've been a teacher/tutor for over 7 years and I have helped dozens of students in English Language and Literature (GCSE, AS & A-Levels), 11+, and English as a Second/Foreign Language. ✨Who I Am as a Teacher? I am very enthusiastic, creative, patient and resourceful, which definitely has a HUGE plus when it comes to teaching, motivation, confidence-building, and high academic achievement for my students. I bring a dynamic and personalized approach to every lesson. I curate our lessons, according to your needs and at your pace. Apart from being part of the Go Student team, I teach one-on-one ESL/EFL English classes (grammar, conversational, business, presentational, interview/exam prep, language, etc.) to foreign students, from beginner to advanced levels, from age 5 and up. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to expand my knowledge while helping others do the same. I firmly believe that the best teaching comes from experience, patience, and a true passion for learning! ✨What Makes My Lessons Different? I don’t teach the old-school way. My teaching style is engaging, interactive, and tailored to each student, making learning fun yet highly effective. I create lessons that feel natural, engaging, and tailored to your needs. Learning with me is fun yet valuable, structured yet flexible, ensuring that you absorb information in a way that makes sense to you. ✨Is This for You? ✔️ Do lessons bore you? My approach is engaging and discussion-based - we learn together. As your tutor, we will share thoughts and build our understanding of your topic's concepts and methods ✔️ Do you struggle with tricky topics? We’ll break concepts down step-by-step, making them easy to grasp. ✔️ Do you find exams stressful? We'll read the questions, practice past papers together, and work on writing expression. Knowing and understanding the necessary materials and content but still not getting the marks is very frustrating. I'll help you master techniques to tackle even the toughest questions! The best part of my job? Getting to know YOU. I take the time to understand how you learn best so that we can personalize your journey and achieve real results. Let’s build a strong foundation, boost your confidence, and make learning an adventure! I’m passionate about empowering students to reach their full potential, and I can’t wait to be part of your learning journey! 🚀 ✨What I Teach: 📚 Exams & Test Prep: GCSE, 11+, SATs, IELTS, TOEFL, ESOL 📖 GCSE: English Language, English Literature, Creative Writing ✏️ Lower Level: English Language and Literature, Writing 📙 AS & A-Level: English Language and Literature, Writing 🌍 Languages: English as a Second/Foreign Language After completing 12 years of schooling, I dedicated the past 11 years to expanding my knowledge through various courses, hands-on teaching experience, and travel. Originally from Manchester, I now live in Scotland with my cat, Gus. My enthusiasm for literature drives me to explore a wide range of perspectives through various genres, from captivating dystopian tales to poignant poetry. Additionally, I have a keen interest in TV, film, and creative writing, which adds a touch of imagination to our lessons. Right now, I'm immersed in crafting a collection of short stories that delve into the intricacies of human connections. I've also got a novel in the works that's really close to my heart. Excitingly, I'm also exploring opportunities for doctoral research, aiming to deepen my knowledge and appreciation of literature and language. But most importantly, I'm here to help you unleash your creativity and deepen your love for English. Let's embark on this journey together! Hello!   I'm Ashleigh, and I'm thrilled to be your English tutor! With nearly a decade of tutoring experience, I'm here to navigate the complexities of language and literature alongside you. Whether we're dissecting Shakespearean prose or refining your creative writing skills, I aim to ensure that learning is both enriching and enjoyable. Here’s what I bring to the table: -GCSE English (KS3-KS4) (AQA Exam Board): I specialise in GCSE English, particularly tailored to the AQA exam board, but I’m adept at teaching English across the entire secondary education curriculum. Whether it’s analysing literature, mastering language skills, or acing exams, I’ve got you covered. -SQA English (National 5 and Higher): I’ve successfully guided students through the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) English courses at both National 5 and Higher levels. -Creative Writing: I offer engaging creative writing sessions where we’ll craft stories, poems, and explore language playfully. -Conversational English: Enhance your real-world communication skills. We’ll focus on conversational English, practical vocabulary, and cultural nuances. Whether you’re preparing for exams, seeking language enrichment, or simply passionate about words, I’m here to guide you. My academic journey includes earning two degrees from the University of Stirling: a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English Studies and a recent postgraduate degree in MLitt Creative Writing, where I graduated with distinction. This experience has deepened my understanding of storytelling and language, and I'm eager to share my insights with you, whether you're aspiring to be a novelist or simply aiming to enhance your conversational English skills.   Currently, I'm furthering my teaching expertise through a Level 5 TEFL course. Beyond tutoring, my passion for writing extends to being a published short story writer and poet, and I also freelance as an editor in my spare time.   Central to my teaching philosophy is fostering independent thinking and self-discovery. I firmly believe in empowering students to think critically and develop lifelong learning skills. My approach is professional yet relaxed, creating an environment where you feel encouraged to explore and express yourself freely.   Whether you're grappling with exam anxiety, brimming with creative energy, or seeking to deepen your appreciation for the English language, I'm committed to supporting you every step of the way.

Hello there! Hope you are well. My name is Joshua Hailey and my pronouns are he/him. I have been an online tutor for around three years, and I hope this 'About Me' section gives you an insight into who I am and my teaching style. Before I go into more detail about who I am, I would urge you to read the testimonials, (at the bottom of this section), from some of my current parents whose children I am teaching! These statements can help you make an informed decision and, (hopefully), choose me as your child's next tutor. I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. In September 2024 I am undertaking a Masters in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. With over two years tutoring experience, a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills, I have challenged and supported students across all educational stages, including primary school pupils right up to A Level students! I want your child to succeed and I truly believe they can do this! My lessons are varied, fun, but get the work done! Education is not 'one size fits all', and online tutoring is the perfect example of this. My sessions will see your child grow from strength to strength, as they learn new concepts and methods of success in their respective subject. You will not find me simply reading off a screen for the entire lesson, but you can expect interactivity to drive every single lesson that I will (hopefully) have with your child! In addition to English tuition, I also offer Primary Maths, 11+ and History. I have experience supporting students in all these subjects, and have completed them to a GCSE/A Level standard (for more information on this, please see my 'Academic Background' section). In summary, I promise to adopt a customised learning plan and positive ethos for your child across all sessions. As the parent, you deserve to feel included in your child's progress. I will endeavour to regularly update you through messages, comprehensive written reports and periodic phone calls should you want them! Here is a full list of the subjects I offer depending on the age of your child: Reception-Year 9: Maths (Primary age only), English Language, English Literature, SPaG, Reading, Comprehension, Literacy, History, 11+ (For 11+ I can only offer English and Verbal Reasoning so please keep this in mind.) GCSE: History, (Edexcel and AQA), English Language (including the Speaking and Listening component), English Literature (AQA, OCR or Edexcel), SPaG, Reading skills Exam Board Experience: AQA, Edexcel and OCR. Languages I speak: English SND Experience: Little to no real-life experience, but I have had mentoring from an SND tutor As mentioned at the start of this, here are some written testimonials from some parents of the students I teach. I hope this enables you to see how beneficial I can be for your child's education! Jaydon's, (a year 3 English student), parent says: 'Joshua is a wonderful tutor and has the ability to engage with children in a warm and nurturing way. He is excellent at engaging my somewhat headstrong son and has not only picked up on his strengths, but is encouraging him to build on them which is increasing his confidence. Joshua’s subject knowledge is second to none, but what makes him wonderful tutor has been his ability to get to know my son, understand his way of thinking and adapt a teaching style that brings out his best work. Homework, the reinforcement of topics learnt in session and the positive feedback has really helped to my son progress well in English. My son looks forward to his sessions with Joshua every week.' Archie's, (a recent GCSE student), parent says: 'We couldn’t have asked for a better tutor than Josh. My son was struggling with his GCSE English Literature and after just one session with Josh, he felt so much more confident with the subject. There was a lot to cover but Josh set out carefully planned revision sessions leading up to and during the exams that covered all the topics. So by the time the exams came my son felt able to tackle anything that came up. Josh is incredibly amiable and knowledgeable and put my son at ease straight away. I would definitely recommend Josh to anyone who is looking for an excellent English tutor.' Kimiya's, (an 11+ Verbal Reasoning student), parent says: 'Kimiya has been having lessons with Josh for almost a year. She has improved significantly and is getting better day by day. Kimiya really enjoys the lessons with Josh and is always looking forward to their next lesson. Josh makes the lessons fun and makes sure that Kimiya has understood the subject before ending the lessons. We are very happy and lucky to have him tutoring Kimiya.' So... what are you waiting for! Are you ready to see your child thrive? Let's do this! I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. I am currently completing a Masters degree in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. Below are my other qualifications and their examination boards. If you decide to choose me as the tutor for your child I am more than happy to go into detail about my qualifications at your first session! Please note the examination board of each qualification is in brackets. This does not mean I am not able to teach an alternative exam board for your child. Feel free to address any concerns around this at our first session. GCSEs: Biology (AQA) - 5 Chemistry (AQA) - 4 Drama (AQA) - 6 English Language (AQA) - 6 English Language (Speaking and Listening) (AQA) - Distinction English Literature (AQA) - 6 French (AQA) - 5 History (Edexcel) - 7 Mathematics (AQA) - 5 Physics (AQA) - 5 A Levels: Drama (AQA) - A English Literature (OCR) - B Psychology (AQA) - B Extended Project Qualification (Level 3, AQA) - A*[star] (Focus was on the poetry of Elizabeth Barrett Browning and the presentation of female stereotypes within literature and history throughout the Victorian era) Degree (English Literature BA (Hons) from the University of Portsmouth): First Class

I’m an enthusiastic individual, that is keen on teaching children, of all ages, up until A-level. I have many different hobbies, such as playing sports and cooking different recipes, which is something I carry out in my free time. I’m also multilingual, as I can speak both Bengali and Urdu fluently. I also have experience of teaching, as I ran my own personal tuition for primary school children, now moving unto secondary school, for English, which is something that I am carrying out now. I’m looking forward to teaching Primary school children, for both Maths and English, as well as English Language and English Literature for GCSE students, and in teaching Finance to A-level students. I have successfully achieved a grade 8 for English Literature, as well as a grade 6 for English language. In addition, I studied Finance as one of my A-level subjects and achieved an A*. I just completed my university degree in Accounting and Finance this year. I enjoy teaching a lot, and it’s something that I’ve always been passionate about, from a young age. I currently also work in a primary school alongside my studies which I recently completed, by doing 1-1 with SEN children, assisting them with their learning. This supports my ability to tutor as it gives me an insight into the different concepts children are learning in school, allowing me to provide my students with the help they need, as I'm aware of how important a child's education is, in shaping their future and I hope and wish to be a part of that. I am a recent graduate with a degree in Accounting and Finance, completed in 2024, and currently awaiting my final results. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a robust understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and the analytical skills necessary for a successful career in the finance industry. It's something that I am deeply passionate about and wish to carry on further into the future.

Hello to you all. I have been teaching English and History to many different people at all levels for many years. I am hugely passionate about making sure the teaching and studying is fun. English is one of the most important subjects there is. I have a passion for helping people improve and get better at both reading and writing. History is one of the basics for so many subjects. It also helps students to develop great skills for the future. I am here to help in all aspects of English ( entry up to GCSE) and History (entry up to A level). Come along and discover how enjoyable it can be. I am an avid rugby fan. I played for many years. I have traveled all over the world. Visited every continent bar Antarctica. Reading is something I do every day: mostly history books! Cooking has now become a passion. I studied at a great school in Hayes in Kent. Came out with 8 "O" Levels and 3 "A" Levels. Then I went to Hampshire University and did a BA in Russian and European History 2.1. After university I had a few careers and then found the job I loved and did for many years. I lectured around the world on English and History. I taught many different courses and to many different age groups. I really love conveying my passion for English and History.

Our experience with GoStudent has been wonderful, especially at the beginning when we were looking for an online tutor. For me I felt their focus was not money but what they could achieve with the child academically. We were paired with an amazing tutor, Sophie. She is patient and wonderful with my daughter, and helps her understand subjects she previously felt confused about.
