French Tutors Online: Take French Lessons from Native Speakers

After a Bachelor's Degree in Translation and Interpretation and a Master's in Conference Interpreting, I have been learning languages for years now and, in 2019, I decided to pass on to my students the language acquisition techniques that helped me when learning French, Russian, Arabic, Basque and English. Here goes one: make the impossible to surround yourself with a Spanish or Hispanic environment (tutors, friends, relatives, news... > culture will boost your motivation to continue learning). I lived in Valencia, Donostia, Bilbao, Madrid and Huelva but I also lived in Bordeaux, Bergerac and Paris. I started teaching Spanish in the Spanish city of Vitoria (also known as the Basque Siberia) because I wanted to help the immigrants coming every year to start a new life in Spain. I found that the best way to help them was by teaching them Spanish so that they could communicate with others and build a brand-new life. In 2020, I started teaching and tutoring French and Spanish on digital learning platforms. Up until now, I have helped more than 90 people (all ages, students with SEND educational profiles, backgrounds and cultures) reach their goals onsite and online and have been translating, project managing and interpreting for 3 years! My name is Dmitri Yendrzheyevskiy. Nice to meet you :) I am an upcoming third-year student studying economics with German. I studied French, German, Russian and English at A level. I love learning languages, speaking both Russian and English natively. Having grown up speaking Russian at home, I have always felt passionate for learning and improving languages; for example, I'm currently learning Chinese and am considering learning Italian and Japanese in the future :D Generally, my sessions depend on whom I am working with. For beginners of French and German, I begin by following the GCSE AQA textbook, where I help teach the skills necessary to learn more independently. The textbook begins with more general stuff like basic grammar, and then branches off into specific topics, such as talking about yourself. I encourage the student to talk as much German and French as possible, helping them to develop a native accent. To maintain and strengthen my languages, I personally dedicate time every day to honing my language skills through listening to films and books of the respective language. In Maths, if I am teaching someone who is a beginner, I will first try to get to know what works for the student, and then using games to encourage younger learners to learn specific parts of maths. For GCSE students, I will follow the specification, skipping over the parts which the student knows well. To determine their general knowledge, I will start by giving a basic test of each successive section, and spend more time on the sections the student does more poorly in. For GCSE and A level students for all of my subjects, I will work with the student in establishing areas of weakness in their GCSEs, and understand their general level and which level they are working at. I will show what examiners want, and how exactly to reach the higher bands to get the highest marks. I am always updating myself on the latest news from AQA to always be familiar with the exact exam structure. I am familiar with most of the A level texts for both French and German, and I am reading through the English A level and GCSE texts. For Russian, I will work through a textbook with the student. I will constantly provide support with pronunciation and determine based on their goals what they want to do; whether they want to learn how to read and write cursive, or simply read and send messages in text form (as the written and typed language looks different). I am very familiar with both GCSE and A level Russian, and know the texts and films. I set homework every week, and check back on it on the next lesson. Depending on the time of month, I am happy to let the student decide which areas they are weakest in, and then work with them on those areas, be those listening, or writing, or a specific part of GCSE that they don't understand. I am proactive in providing the best experience for all of my students, and I am passionate about the work that I do. I have tutored for over a year and the experience has benefitted me in many ways. Hi, I’m Paul. I mostlytutor Maths and Science as well as Computer Science and English as a Foreign Language, which I trained in at Columbia Teachers’ College, USA. Originally I studied for a BA in Natural Sciences. I have been a classroom teacher and tutor for over 15years, in the UK as well as South Korea, Japan and China, and more recently have developed Science courses for a large online learning platform. My tutorials are often centered around structured practice of specific topic areas, with an approach geared toward getting students to speak freely about topics in their own voices. Having worked with multiple year groups in primary, SEN and tutoring classes proved to me that my students and I feel more comfortable when we work together. I grew up speaking 3 languages, therefore I found it easier to pick up more languages as I already had an ear for it. This led me to study all languages at A-Level before I decided to study my bachelor's degree in music.
