I’m a fully qualified Mathematics teacher with QTS and have thorough subject and exam knowledge. I have a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Sunderland University. I have a few years of teaching experience both at classroom level and 1-2-1 tutoring. I’m friendly, easy going and get excellent results through building good relationships with my students. I have a huge passion for teaching and find it most rewarding to see children progress and excel under my guidance. I’m Ava, and I’m currently a third year Physics with Astrophysics student at the University of York. I have over four years of tutoring experience in most subject areas, and specialise in Physics and Maths up to A Level, as my degree has thoroughly equipped me to teach these subjects. I attended James Allen’s Girls’ School throughout my secondary school education, achieving 10 A*s in my GCSEs and A*A*B in my A Levels, with A*s in both Physics and Maths. I am entering third year of university studying Physics with Astrophysics at York, achieving a high 2:1 on average so far. I have four years experience in tutoring, and have tutored ages 4-16 in subjects including Science and Maths, and English at young ages.

I'm a recent grad from Warwick University, while I was there I enjoyed playing dodgeball, going for hikes and learning the guitar. I look forward to seeing movies at the cinema and cycling on the weekends as well as visiting museums and galleries. I also have a pet cat. I completed a BSc in Mathematical Statistics (with Computer Science) at the University of Warwick. My course was intensive, covering broad areas of pure and applied maths, theoretical statistics, statistical modelling and programming. As many of my modules were geared towards data science, much of my learning culminated in an undergraduate research project in machine learning - exploring how machines encode information on the neuron-level.
