Hello! I'm a passionate and dedicated tutor currently pursuing my MSc in Financial Mathematics at the University of Birmingham. Previously, I was working full-time as a Quantitative Analyst at a Market Maker / Hedge Fund and spent time working in Venture Capital also. Hi! My name is Oliver, but everyone calls me Ollie, and I have been studying Politics at the University of Warwick since September 2023. I did A-Levels in my home city of Liverpool. I love my subject and I love teaching children as I have done before working at Kumon. I play instruments with my favourite being the drum kit, and I love playing board games with people! I also sometimes go skiing with my family. I completed my A-levels in Mathematics, Psychology, and Politics at the Liverpool Blue Coat Grammar School in 2023 and am currently studying Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick. Hi! My name's Rebecca, and I am a soon-to-be PhD Student, specialising in computational chemistry. I have just finished an integrated master's in Natural Sciences at Cambridge, meaning I've studied Physics and Chemistry at a university level. I have experience supporting university admissions, where I volunteered on open days, school visits, and summer schools throughout my undergraduate studies. A big part of this was small group teaching of year 12s, where we started at A-level content and developed to first-year undergraduate topics. I have also worked as a mentor on Cambridge's STEM SMART programme for Year 12 students. This widening participation program focused on pastoral support for students from low-income backgrounds looking to apply to top universities in the STEM subjects. I am a tutor because I love teaching just as much as I love science, but also because the current A-level system doesn't show you how valuable the knowledge you learn is to the field. I am hoping that together, we'll not only get the grade you want but that I'll also help you appreciate how important the things you learn are in the world of science! My tutoring style focuses on visual learning and understanding the basics rather than relying on memorisation. I focus on helping you grasp the core principles and building up from there. I took Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, and Applied Maths in my first year. In second year, I continued with Chemistry and also studied the History and Philosophy of Science (a bit of a wildcard choice, but one I found genuinely fascinating). I eventually specialised in Chemistry, focusing mainly on theoretical and quantum chemistry, a field that merges the logical structure of physics with the molecular insight of chemistry. I graduated with a 2.1 in my undergraduate degree and decided to stay on for a fourth year to complete my integrated Master’s. My final-year research was in computational chemistry, where I simulated how proteins behave under different conditions. This work sat at the interface of chemistry, physics, and biology, allowing me to apply concepts from across the sciences. It was fully computer-based (a massive plus - I’ve never been a fan of lab work!) and I was proud to finish the year with a First. I loved the experience so much that I wasn’t quite ready to leave academia. I’m now about to begin a PhD at King’s College London, researching novel bio-based materials (ideally with minimal time spent in the lab)! My undergraduate journey wasn’t without challenges. Cambridge is tough, and I was diagnosed with dyslexia after receiving unexpectedly low marks in my first-year exams. My performance steadily improved as I learned how to work with my learning style. I’ve always been a visual and hands-on learner, which likely explains why Chemistry felt so natural to me. My academic ups and downs have deeply influenced how I approach tutoring - I understand what it’s like to struggle despite working hard, and empathy helps me support my students more effectively. I believe that learning should be about building accurate understanding, not just memorising facts, and I strive to make that a reality in every session I teach.

Hi! My name is Luke, I study Chemistry at the University of Oxford and I offer teaching in Mathematics and Chemistry. I have just finished my first year at Oxford having achieved a distinction in Chemistry (which contains a huge Mathematics course). I am passionate about teaching and have taught Mathematics as a School and lesson Teacher for over seven years.
