Hi there! My name is Kevin and I am an English and Irish teacher who recently moved to London to pursue an MA in Theatre Directing. I have been teaching several students both subjects over the past 2 years to great success. I have experience teaching English and Irish to all levels, History to GCSE standard and Performing Arts up to third level. I love seeing students find a passion for a subject they have written off as being too difficult or obscure. I am approachable, friendly and love the subjects I teach. I usually get students to teach the subjects to me to see if they truly understand what we have covered. I am also a big nerd with a love for all things fantasy, literature and animation! I have a 2.1 Masters in Education and currently on a 1.1 average on MA in Theatre Directing. I also have a BA in English and Irish with Performing Arts Studies. I also have a grade 8 RIAM qualification in Piano and am extremely passionate about music.

I’m Shaam, a 21-year-old Economics graduate from Royal Holloway, University of London, where I achieved a strong 2:1 grade. Over three years, I’ve accumulated hundreds of hours of tutoring experience in GCSE Maths and A-Level Economics, working with students of all abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs such as autism and dyslexia. I’m hard working, dependable, and easy-going, with a track record of helping learners gain confidence, whilst achieving their goals. Away from tutoring, I’m a keen sportsman and enjoy both playing and watching sports such as cricket and football, which have helped me develop teamwork, patience, and resilience — qualities I have always brought to my tutoring. My lessons are typically 60-minutes long, but this can be adjusted depending on different students and/or their families' needs. I build in short breaks if and whenever requested if it helps the student rejuvenate and refresh. I have experience with learners of different backgrounds, including those with Special Educational Needs such as autism and dyslexia, where I aim to create a calm, supportive environment where the learner's queries are encouraged and their progress is celebrated. My lessons are adapted to each student’s learning style, through clear explanations, relatable analogies, and whiteboard demonstrations to help students understand trickier concepts. I also like to incorporate past paper questions that are relevant to various topics, whilst also encouraging students to explain topics back to me to reinforce their understanding, alongside developing robust subject knowledge. I build in short breaks if and whenever needed to help students rejuvenate and refresh, and request parental supervision if and only I believe it would help the pupil get the most out of their lessons. My aim is to make challenging topics accessible, boost grades, and ultimately help students genuinely enjoy learning. Hello, I'm James and I'm a college student at UCD. I'm currently studying Economics and Finance which is a heavily maths-orientated degree. Growing up, I have always loved maths and it was my favourite subject at Junior Cert and Leaving Cert level. I obtained 10 A's in my Junior Cert, including an A in maths in addition to 7 H1's at Leaving Cert. I received a H1 in maths (100%) and in Applied Maths (99%). I have been tutoring secondary school students for the better part of a year and I absolutely love it. Like most people, I have also had difficulty with Maths and I would like to use my experience to help others any difficulties they may have. Having completed secondary school in 2021, I am very familiar with all aspects of the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate syllabi. I take a very relaxed approach to lessons with each grind tailored to the student's individual needs and requirements. I look forward to working with you!

Hello, my name is Kirsty. I am currently a PhD student at the University of Manchester studying maternal and fetal health. At secondary school I always enjoyed learning about Science and Maths, so after my GCSEs I decided to study A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. Following this, I went to the University of Manchester to study Biomedical Sciences. Here I spent three years learning about various aspects of Biology such as Anatomy, Physiology, Neuroscience and Biochemistry. From my lectures I began to grow an interest in maternal and fetal health, which I pursued by completing my master's in reproduction and pregnancy. As well as increasing my knowledge about biology I also learnt laboratory skills and how to conduct experiments. I am now doing my PhD whilst also teaching undergraduate biology students at the university. Outside of academia I also enjoy going to dance classes, hiking and baking.

What are GCSEs?
GCSEs are qualifications that students in the UK achieve at the end of their compulsory education.
A GCSE grade is given to each subject and calculated on written exams, practical exams and coursework.
How important are GCSEs?
GCSEs are a universally recognised qualification in the UK.
Specific GCSE grades may be required when applying for further education. This includes applications for college, sixth form and university, or when applying for a job.
GCSEs can come with a lot of pressure and expectation but your child can achieve the grades that they need with lots of practice as well as guidance from a GCSE tutor.
At what age do you take GCSEs?
Students take their GCSE exams around age 16, in the last months of the academic year at school, although the syllabus is taught between the ages of 14-16 years.
There is now more weight than ever being placed on final exams (instead of coursework), so students must be well equipped to perform on the day.
Which GCSEs are compulsory?
The core subjects for GCSEs are maths, English and science.
Other GCSEs include languages (usually French, German or Spanish), humanities (such as history, geography or religious studies), art (music, art, media, drama) and technical (food technology, design and technology, computer science).
Can GCSEs be re-marked?
If your child is on the cusp of getting the grade that they hoped for or the result simply does not seem fair, the paper in question can be sent back to the exam board for appeal.
Many students appeal exam results when they are one or two marks away from the next grade up. The right study plan and a good understanding of the marking scheme for each exam can help avoid this situation.
If your child has achieved marks close to the grade line in their mock exams, it could be time to get them some help with a GCSE tutor.
