Hi, I'm Robert, a passionate maths tutor dedicated to helping students realise just how capable they truly are. With over five years of teaching and tutoring experience, I know that great learning happens when students feel supported, challenged, and motivated. My lessons are lively, engaging, and fully tailored to each student's needs, focusing not just on knowledge but on building real confidence that lasts beyond the classroom. I specialise in GCSE and KS3 maths, with a strong understanding of the UK curriculum and exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR. Whether it’s mastering core skills, pushing for top grades, or catching up after a tricky year, I know how to create lessons that are clear, structured, and enjoyable. I combine proven techniques with a fresh, encouraging approach that helps students feel at ease and excited to learn. Alongside tutoring, I have worked in schools in the UK and have been the head of secondary school at an international school, giving me a wide perspective on what students need to succeed in today’s education system. If you're looking for a tutor who brings energy, expertise, and a genuine commitment to seeing you thrive, I’d love to work with you. Let’s turn your goals into results! At GCSE I gained an A* in Maths, and at A-Level an A* and an A in Maths and Further Maths respectively. I then attended the University of Exeter where I gained a Master's degree in civil and environmental engineering. I am also a qualified teacher of English as a foreign language having gained a Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. After graduating I taught in a secondary school in Devon where I gave lessons in person and online during national lockdowns. I helped students recover lost learning due to the pandemic and on average the students I worked with exceeded their target grades by an average of more than 1 grade. As well as my work in the UK I have taught maths and been the head of secondary school at a bilingual school in the Dominican Republic.

Hello! I'm a passionate and dedicated tutor currently pursuing my MSc in Financial Mathematics at the University of Birmingham. Previously, I was working full-time as a Quantitative Analyst at a Market Maker / Hedge Fund and spent time working in Venture Capital also. My journey into the world of advanced mathematics has been driven by a relentless desire to understand complex systems from the ground up, a mindset I'm excited to share with my students. My academic foundation is a BEng in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Southampton, but my learning truly accelerated during my 13 months in my previous role at a fast-paced market maker. This experience was a crucible, teaching me not just the theory but how to apply mathematical and computational skills under intense, real-world pressure. It's this unique blend of academic rigour and practical, hard-won experience that shapes my teaching. I know what it feels like to grapple with challenging material, and I believe that anyone can achieve mastery with the right guidance and a resilient mindset. My goal is to be more than just a tutor; I aim to be a coach and a mentor, helping you build not only your knowledge but also the confidence and problem-solving skills to succeed in your exams and beyond. Education: • MSc Financial Engineering, University of Birmingham, Incoming, Sep 2025 - Aug 2026 • BEng Electrical & Electronic Engineering, University of Southampton, 2:1, Oct 2021 - Aug 2024 Experience: Trireme Market Maker, Incubation Analyst, Jul 2024 - Jun 2025: • Co-led an incubation cohort of 10+ pre-trading Web3 start-ups, varying from: Infrastructure (L1s and L2s), DeFi (Yield Protocols, Liquidity Markets, DePiN and Artificial Intelligence. • Conducted daily market macro and exchange analysis, building and deploying models to help determine which CEXs are the most desirable for specific clients along with determining optimal listing times. Trireme Market Maker, Quantitative Analyst Internship, Jun-Jun 2024: • Gathered data from 5+ APIs, such as MEXC, Gate.IO and Kucoin for future listing volume forecasting on the previously mentioned CEXs and employed Python multiprocessing libraries and utilised vectorisation with NumPy and Pandas to efficiently clean and standardise data. • Built and deployed high-accuracy volume prediction models (Random Forest and XGBoost) for the first 5, 15 and 30 minutes of trading on newly listed client tokens, providing valuable insights for traders. • Built and deployed 2, 3 and 4 state Hidden Markov Models to forecast the future state/market regime of Bitcoin to understand the state distributions of each given state with the goal of determining the correlations between states. J.P Morgan Chase & Co, Quantitative Researcher Internship, Jul 2023-Aug 2023: • Supported with research in interest rate derivatives trading across EMEA and APAC markets, focusing on options pricing models and volatility surface construction for complex derivative instruments including caps, floors, and swaptions. • Collaborated on non-linear rates product development and risk management, implementing statistical models and time series analysis to support trading strategies and hedge effectiveness testing for interest rate exposure. • Conducted daily market data analysis and model validation processes, utilising Python and statistical libraries to maintain pricing accuracy and risk metrics for the derivatives book.

I’m a Physics MSci graduate from UCL with a strong background in Maths, Physics, Computer Science, and broader sciences. I teach students from beginner to advanced levels, always adapting lessons to each learner’s pace and goals. My style is clear, supportive, and results-focused: I break down difficult topics into simple steps, build confidence, and help students improve both grades and real understanding. Whether you need help with exam prep, homework, problem-solving, or long-term academic growth, I provide structured, engaging lessons tailored to your needs. I completed an integrated Master’s degree (MSci) in Physics at University College London (UCL), where I built strong expertise across Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and data-driven problem solving. During my degree, I studied areas such as quantum mechanics, particle physics, advanced mathematical methods, computational physics, high-performance computing, and machine learning applications in science. My final-year MSci research project focused on quantum computing and AI for scientific data analysis, where I applied quantum autoencoders to anomaly detection problems inspired by high-energy physics datasets. This involved advanced Python programming, model evaluation, data analysis, and scientific reporting. In addition to university-level training, I have years of hands-on experience supporting students in Maths and Science topics, translating complex concepts into clear, structured explanations. My academic path combines rigorous theory, practical computation, and strong communication skills, which allows me to teach effectively across levels—from foundational school content to advanced pre-university material in Maths, Physics, Computer Science, and related sciences.

What are GCSEs?
GCSEs are qualifications that students in the UK achieve at the end of their compulsory education.
A GCSE grade is given to each subject and calculated on written exams, practical exams and coursework.
How important are GCSEs?
GCSEs are a universally recognised qualification in the UK.
Specific GCSE grades may be required when applying for further education. This includes applications for college, sixth form and university, or when applying for a job.
GCSEs can come with a lot of pressure and expectation but your child can achieve the grades that they need with lots of practice as well as guidance from a GCSE tutor.
At what age do you take GCSEs?
Students take their GCSE exams around age 16, in the last months of the academic year at school, although the syllabus is taught between the ages of 14-16 years.
There is now more weight than ever being placed on final exams (instead of coursework), so students must be well equipped to perform on the day.
Which GCSEs are compulsory?
The core subjects for GCSEs are maths, English and science.
Other GCSEs include languages (usually French, German or Spanish), humanities (such as history, geography or religious studies), art (music, art, media, drama) and technical (food technology, design and technology, computer science).
Can GCSEs be re-marked?
If your child is on the cusp of getting the grade that they hoped for or the result simply does not seem fair, the paper in question can be sent back to the exam board for appeal.
Many students appeal exam results when they are one or two marks away from the next grade up. The right study plan and a good understanding of the marking scheme for each exam can help avoid this situation.
If your child has achieved marks close to the grade line in their mock exams, it could be time to get them some help with a GCSE tutor.
