Hello there! Hope you are well. My name is Joshua Hailey and my pronouns are he/him. I have been an online tutor for over three years, and I hope this 'About Me' section gives you an insight into who I am and my teaching style. Before I go into more detail about who I am, I would urge you to read the testimonials, (at the bottom of this section), from some of my current parents whose children I am teaching! These statements can help you make an informed decision and, (hopefully), choose me as your child's next tutor. I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. In September 2024 I am undertaking a Masters in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. With over three years tutoring experience, a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills, I have challenged and supported students across all educational stages, including primary school pupils right up to A Level students! I want your child to succeed and I truly believe they can do this! My lessons are varied, fun, but get the work done! Education is not 'one size fits all', and online tutoring is the perfect example of this. My sessions will see your child grow from strength to strength, as they learn new concepts and methods of success in their respective subject. You will not find me simply reading off a screen for the entire lesson, but you can expect interactivity to drive every single lesson that I will (hopefully) have with your child! In addition to English tuition, I also offer Primary Maths, 11+ and History. I have experience supporting students in all these subjects, and have completed them to a GCSE/A Level standard (for more information on this, please see my 'Academic Background' section). In summary, I promise to adopt a customised learning plan and positive ethos for your child across all sessions. As the parent, you deserve to feel included in your child's progress. I will endeavour to regularly update you through messages, comprehensive written reports and periodic phone calls should you want them! Here is a full list of the subjects I offer depending on the age of your child: Reception-Year 9: Maths (Primary age only), English Language, English Literature, SPaG, Reading, Comprehension, Literacy, History, 11+ (For 11+ I can only offer English and Verbal Reasoning so please keep this in mind.) GCSE: History, (Edexcel and AQA), English Language (including the Speaking and Listening component), English Literature (AQA, OCR or Edexcel), SPaG, Reading skills Exam Board Experience: AQA, Edexcel and OCR. Languages I speak: English SND Experience: Little to no real-life experience, but I have had mentoring from an SND tutor As mentioned at the start of this, here are some written testimonials from some parents of the students I teach. I hope this enables you to see how beneficial I can be for your child's education! Jaydon's, (a year 3 English student), parent says: 'Joshua is a wonderful tutor and has the ability to engage with children in a warm and nurturing way. He is excellent at engaging my somewhat headstrong son and has not only picked up on his strengths, but is encouraging him to build on them which is increasing his confidence. Joshua’s subject knowledge is second to none, but what makes him wonderful tutor has been his ability to get to know my son, understand his way of thinking and adapt a teaching style that brings out his best work. Homework, the reinforcement of topics learnt in session and the positive feedback has really helped to my son progress well in English. My son looks forward to his sessions with Joshua every week.' Archie's, (a recent GCSE student), parent says: 'We couldn’t have asked for a better tutor than Josh. My son was struggling with his GCSE English Literature and after just one session with Josh, he felt so much more confident with the subject. There was a lot to cover but Josh set out carefully planned revision sessions leading up to and during the exams that covered all the topics. So by the time the exams came my son felt able to tackle anything that came up. Josh is incredibly amiable and knowledgeable and put my son at ease straight away. I would definitely recommend Josh to anyone who is looking for an excellent English tutor.' Kimiya's, (an 11+ Verbal Reasoning student), parent says: 'Kimiya has been having lessons with Josh for almost a year. She has improved significantly and is getting better day by day. Kimiya really enjoys the lessons with Josh and is always looking forward to their next lesson. Josh makes the lessons fun and makes sure that Kimiya has understood the subject before ending the lessons. We are very happy and lucky to have him tutoring Kimiya.' So... what are you waiting for! Are you ready to see your child thrive? Let's do this! I am an English Literature BA (Hons) graduate who studied at the University of Portsmouth. I am currently completing a Masters degree in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Leicester. Below are my other qualifications and their examination boards. If you decide to choose me as the tutor for your child I am more than happy to go into detail about my qualifications at your first session! Please note the examination board of each qualification is in brackets. This does not mean I am not able to teach an alternative exam board for your child. Feel free to address any concerns around this at our first session. My name is Monica and I have just graduated from St. Andrews with an MA in history and social anthropology. I always loved history and indeed still do. I choose to study anthropology because my English teacher got rather annoyed at my consistent questions about the characters' lives. "Just go study anthropology then" - and that is what I did. I am have graduated with a further masters with distinction in the history of Scotland and am moving onto a PHD this October. I love being able to combine my two passions in one degree. I try to explain it as anthropology giving an understanding of the present and history of the past. The marriage of the two academic subjects is interesting, indeed. For example, for my dissertation in the School of Anthropology looks at the community in Glasgow in 1592; tracking the influence of the Reformation at a local freedom. School exams definitely prepare you well for university expectations! There were some things that stood out for me at school as helping. I think you have to look after yourself as well as sticking to a study plan, definitely schedule breaks as well as something nice every now and again. I also think essay plans are key for the arts and english examinations and that is something I would be keen to help students create. Ultimately you need to understand the content, not merely recite a list of facts, once you do it is far easier to remember and argue your point in an exam.

Hey !! I am a recent Law graduate interested in pursuing tutoring. Teaching ONLY history at GCSE and lower years! I can teach History at a lower and GCSE and A-Level level and Law at an A-level and undergraduate level. But currently taking on only GCSE and lower years. I have experience in tutoring kids at primary levels in subjects maths and English, which I am also interested to teach. I have had a history of tutoring kids voluntarily at local establishments and siblings for years and have mentoring experience for A-Levels history or arabic reading tutoring and mentoring. I have experience with AQA and Edexcel exam boards. I speak English, Urdu/Hindi and Pashto at a native level of fluency. I have years of informal tutoring which started from a young age during Arabic lessons to A-level mentoring. I prefer the ages from primary to GCSE. I love to watch crime and nature documentaries but I am also interested in fictional books and biographies of great leaders and prominent figures throughout world history. I love a walk through a park on a sunny day and possibly play basketball and football. For GCSE I chose to continue History due to my love for history and my interest in learning about how the events in history shaped society as we know it today. This passion and love for History was carried on for my A-Levels, where alongside this I chose politics to have a better understanding of the political world it is today and how it transformed from the past, since I had love for learning history. Moreover, my curiosity into the working world and how society works and progresses and progressed through history led me to choose sociology to understand the world better and realise the disadvantages and discrimination some sectors of society faces. Alongside my studies, I have participated in multiple social programmes that intended to make a social change such as Envision, which was a programme where I was project manager and researcher for the topic of child resilience and child abuse. which earned me and my team funds from the dragons dens (version of the programme) and placed best team work and research in the finals. Adding more to my passion for helping and spreading awareness on social issues, I wrote a 5000 word dissertation in my A-Levls about the legislative system and racial rights in the UK and how more needs to be done to minimise, at least, racial prejudice. Additional to this, I have had a keen interest in the business world and helped in marketing and project managing our goal and vision to win which lead us to the Young Enterprises semi finals. Currently, I am self teaching korean and learning more about islamic history and reading up on social movements leaders like the civil rights movement leaders like MLK and Malcolm X. Which is an extended interest from A-Levels history where I wrote a dissertation on the civil rights movement and the leadership that made a change in African American history. on my off time, I like to travel and visit the parks and enjoy reading about my current interests, like auto biographies on leaders and social events and significant historical events but also fictional books that sucks me into the world of imagination. I am a huge fan of BTS because of the poetic lyricism thats conveys messages of strength, self esteem and self love and passion for the things you love irregardless of what society has to say. Their message is applicable to all that is willing to listen and understand their message and movement. Like e one of their member said "You'll like BTS music if you listen without prejudice" - Suga. I am in support of their music and what they stand for and I am in support of their multiple campaigns like their "LOVE MYSELF" campaign, that stand with social change, social justice and climate changed and youth power in changing the future for the better. This all stand true with me and my beliefs and I would love to share if I can their message and help spread the positivity and self love their promote. But also would love to talk and connect with my students with similar music interests and beliefs.

I am studying Biotechnology at the University of Nottingham and have been tutoring students from KS2 to A-Level for two years. I am passionate about making learning more fun for my pupils because that way they'll learn better. I am very good at explaining difficult concepts in different ways so that all students understand. I did A Levels in Biology (AQA), Chemistry (AQA), Economics (Edexcel). I am in my third year of Biotechnology BSc (Hons) and have studied a variety of modules during my studies that equiped me with relevant knowledge that will allow me to stretch my students who want to know more about science. I help my students reach their maximum potential by focusing on building the skills that they will need to succeed in exams. Exam skills are often the downfall of even very intelligent students. Exams are stressful and unnatural enviroments, but by practicing all types of questions together, my students have gone on to achieve grades that they would not have thought possible.
