I am excited to teach you biology. The subject of biology is very interesting and arguably the most influential subject you will study. This is because it allows us to gain knowledge about ourselves, our health, and our environment. I have taught biology for around 6 years, and I am looking forward to making biology engaging and fun for you. My teaching styles include explaining topics as well as demonstrating concepts through visuals (images). When I write on my iPad, I share the screen with the students so they can see what I am writing and get a better understanding of the concepts. One of my hobbies is traveling and learning about other cultures. As well as traveling to twelve countries, I lived and studied in Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Malaysia, Poland and Italy. Also, I love extreme sports like Bungee jumping and cliff diving. I also enjoy aerial photography as well. My educational experience includes GCSEs, A levels, and the IMAT, after which I began my medical studies in Italy. My teaching experience, in total, is six years. I am an experienced educator with over fifteen years in teaching and mentoring, now specialising in English, Psychology, and Sociology up to A-level. My academic background includes a BA in Sociology, a diploma in Counselling, ACCHP accreditation, and I am currently completing a Master’s in Psychology at the University of Portsmouth. This academic journey, combined with my teaching experience, allows me to provide learners with both subject expertise and practical strategies to achieve success. In English, I focus on building strong foundations in reading, writing, and critical analysis, helping learners gain the confidence to express themselves clearly and effectively. My Sociology and Psychology teaching draws on my academic knowledge and real-world insights, making lessons engaging and relevant by connecting theory to contemporary issues and everyday life. I believe that every learner has unique strengths, and I adapt my teaching style to meet individual needs. My counselling background helps me create a supportive environment where learners feel comfortable to ask questions, take risks, and develop resilience. Organised, approachable, and enthusiastic, I encourage students not only to meet their academic goals but also to grow in confidence and independent thinking. Above all, I am committed to inspiring curiosity, developing critical skills, and empowering learners to reach their full potential in their chosen subjects. My academic background reflects both a strong commitment to education and a passion for understanding people, society, and the human mind. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Education from Griffith University, Australia, where I developed a foundation in social theory, educational practice, and the ways in which learning is shaped by cultural and societal factors. This degree gave me valuable insights into both the structures of society and the transformative power of education. Building on this, I undertook a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling, which allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of human behaviour, communication, and emotional wellbeing. This qualification provided practical tools for supporting individuals and groups, strengthening my ability to create learning environments that are empathetic, inclusive, and responsive to different needs. Currently, I am completing a Master’s in Psychology at the University of Portsmouth, with only the final stage remaining. This advanced study has deepened my knowledge of psychological theory, research, and application. It has also enhanced my analytical and critical thinking skills, and further developed my ability to connect theory with practice. Studying at postgraduate level has reinforced my commitment to lifelong learning and prepared me to bring a high level of academic and practical expertise into my teaching. Taken together, these qualifications demonstrate not only my academic achievement but also my dedication to education, psychology, and counselling—fields that all intersect in my work as an educator and tutor.

I am a first class Mathematics graduate with a PhD in Mathematics (Thesis title: Conditioning of the weak-constraint variational data assimilation problem for numerical weather prediction.). I have over 18 years of tuition and mentoring experience with mainly GCSE, A-level and University level students. I have 14 years experiences as a Scientists and post-doctoral researcher, having previously worked on various projects including; Predicting Solar winds via modelling Coronal mass ejections from the Sun for space weather, Mars weather research, and European Regional Reanalysis Uncertainty Quantification systems for weather forecasts. I take a small number of select students each year, and close my doors once I have this number (no more than 4 usually). I have 18+ years of experience tutoring and mentoring young adults and children ranging from 7-30 years old as a side venture while undertaking research projects simply because I love teaching! I am grateful for the privilege to contribute to the young minds of the future who have a thirst for knowledge. I have taught all exam boards for A levels and GCSE students, including OCR MEI. The levels I have taught range from 11+ (11 plus) candidates, those preparing for Maths challenges (all UKMTs, ie. Olympiad, IMC etc), GCSE, Cambridge STEP, A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, and BSc. In addition to private tuition, I have also taught BSc students for 4 years while at University in lecture-supplementary class groups. The modules I am well versed are as follows: Theory of Data Assimilation Numerical Analysis Finite Difference Techniques (particularly for Meteorological weather models, Oceans, etc) Partial and Ordinary Differential Equations Bayesian Theory and Statistics Initial and Boundary Value Problems Vector Calculus Theory of Quantum Mechanics I provoke excellence and tap into the strengths of my students by challenging them and allowing them to naturally evolve in a way best suited to their psychological architecture. I also have a track record of guiding people along their natural grain, pushing them towards their natural strengths. I make an effort to make my lessons not only fun, but relatable to the real world. I create an interactive environment to keep them involved and make them feel that they are learning it themselves with me gently guiding their path. I have a Mathematics PhD, specialising in the technique used to predict the weather, known as Data Assimilation. I am an applied Mathematician. Data assimilation estimates the state of a system, given the observations and our uncertainties in data. I trained as a Mathematician prior to my PhD. I worked for 3 years in industry and realised that I wasn't being challenged. That led me back to do the PhD. I also enjoyed teaching, ensuring that I kept teaching kids and young adults (A level) from the days I was an undergraduate til today.

What is the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme?
The IB Diploma is a two-year educational programme for students aged 16 to 19. It encourages curiosity about the world and the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as providing an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education.
It aims not only to develop students’ knowledge in a range of subjects and disciplines, but helps them become confident, self-motivated and resilient global citizens.
The programme is composed of six academic subject groups along with the Diploma Programme (DP) Core. The DP Core requires students to reflect on the nature of knowledge in a course called Theory of Knowledge (ToK), participate in independent research to produce an Extended Essay (EE), and engage in extracurricular activities related to Creativity, Action and Service (CAS).
What subjects are covered in the IB Diploma Programme?
Subjects are offered at a Standard and Higher Level. Students must pass at least three subjects at Higher Level and a total of six from the following list:
Each subject is scored from 1-7, and up to 3 additional points may be awarded for the ToK essay and the EE. A minimum of 24 points is required to pass, with 45 points the maximum that can be achieved. The CAS does not count towards the final score but must be completed to earn the diploma.
In general, a score of 30 points or higher is considered enough to gain admission to many universities, with more selective universities requiring a score of 40 or higher.
How to get good results in the IB Diploma Programme
The IB Diploma is a rigorous academic programme which many students find challenging, which can lead to overwhelm, a loss of motivation and procrastination.
It’s vital to start early when it comes to preparing for the exams. Revising should ideally be done in short amounts daily and balanced across multiple subjects. Completing past papers will familiarise you with the types of questions asked and improve your exam technique.
Using an IB tutor is a sure path to success as they can teach effective learning strategies, help you gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter, and work with you to develop a realistic and achievable study schedule that will keep you on track throughout the year.
GoStudent has a range of IB tutors that have direct experience in teaching the curriculum and understand the assessment methods. They have a special focus on the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay and the Extended Essay, teaching the necessary skills and strategies to succeed in both as well as help across different subjects within the level.
