Here’s a warm, natural **~250-word “about me”** that feels personal but still professional and tutor-appropriate: --- Hi, I’m Rebecca! I’m a Sociology tutor with a strong passion for humanities subjects, particularly sociology, English, and academic writing. I’m currently studying Politics and International Relations at university, which has strengthened my understanding of social theory, critical thinking, and structured essay writing. My academic background allows me to support students not only with content knowledge but also with developing strong analytical and evaluation skills. My interest in sociology comes from wanting to understand how society works and why social issues affect different groups in different ways. I enjoy helping students make connections between theory and real-world examples, as this often makes the subject more engaging and easier to understand. My tutoring experience includes supporting my younger sister and my neighbours’ children with primary school work, 11+ preparation, and GCSE subjects. Through this, I’ve developed a patient, calm, and encouraging teaching style. I understand that many students struggle with confidence, particularly in essay-based subjects, so I focus on breaking topics down into manageable steps and creating a supportive learning environment. In my lessons, I use clear explanations, discussion, exam-style questions, and structured writing practice to help students build both understanding and exam technique. My aim is to help students feel more confident, capable, and motivated while making steady academic progress. Hi, I’m Archie Hall, an energetic and passionate English and Science teacher. I enjoy helping students learn in ways that are simple, clear, and fun. I believe that learning should not feel boring or stressful. Instead, it should be exciting and meaningful. My goal is to help students build confidence while they improve their skills in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the world around them. In my English classes, I help students explore literature, grammar, and language through creative activities. I use group discussions, role-playing, storytelling, and multimedia projects to make lessons more interesting. I encourage students to share their ideas and opinions, because I believe every student has something valuable to say. I guide them step by step so they can improve their communication skills and enjoy learning at the same time. I also teach Science. In my Science classes, I explain lessons in a simple and easy-to-understand way. I use real-life examples and hands-on activities to help students understand different concepts. I want my students to be curious, ask questions, and discover answers on their own. I believe that Science helps students think clearly and solve problems, which are important skills for their future. I work hard to create a positive and supportive classroom environment. I make sure every student feels respected, encouraged, and motivated to do their best. In my free time, I enjoy watching anime, which inspires my creativity and imagination. I also sing a song every morning to start my day with positive energy. This daily habit helps me stay motivated and ready to give my best to my students. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Finance. My studies helped me develop strong planning, organization, and problem-solving skills. I also gained knowledge in communication and management, which are very helpful in teaching. I have been teaching for one and a half years now, handling both English and Science subjects. During this time, I have learned how to plan effective lessons, manage a classroom confidently, and adjust my teaching style to meet different learning needs. My education and teaching experience have prepared me to guide, support, and inspire my students every day.

New tutor

Hello! My name is Shruti and I have always been fascinated by technology and how it shapes the world we live in. I have a strong passion for mathematics and science. I enjoy the challenges of solving complex problems and finding different solutions, which strengthen analytical thinking as well as problem-solving skills. I believe this is very important because it helps us to understand problems better and enables us to break them down into smaller, more manageable parts, which is also very crucial to learn. This also allows us to evaluate options logically instead of just guessing. Alongside this, I love listening to music. Listening to different genres helps me to relax and stay motivated; it also enhances my focus, concentration and memory. For me, music also works by blocking out distractions and creating a very steady rhythm for the brain to follow, which further increases my level of concentration. I also enjoy learning different languages because I believe this helps with connecting to different people from diverse backgrounds. Cognitively, learning a new language strengthens memory, problem-solving skills, as well as concentration. Altogether, these skills helped me to build confidence and independence. Therefore, I became better at explaining new ideas clearly and in an easily understandable way. I also became better at learning new things and finding solutions quickly to different problems. This is extremely essential in fields like engineering and tutoring! Throughout my academic years, I have attended Queen Mary's High School, and after that, I attended Queen Mary's Grammar School for sixth form. Currently, I am a first year Computer Engineering Student at the University of Birmingham.During my school years and university so far, I have completed assignments, projects which have helped me to develop my analytical thinking skills and experience explaining difficult concepts easily. Furthermore, I have also done mentoring before in school, where I was teaching maths to a GCSE student, and this also enabled my skills to improve and gave me more experience of teaching.

Key Stage 2 tutoring

What is Key Stage 2?

Key Stage 2 (KS2) is the term used to refer to the second stage of a child’s primary education and covers Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Children are typically aged between 7 and 11 years old in KS2.

What subjects are covered at Key Stage 2?

Children are taught the following subjects:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Art and Design
  • Computing
  • Design and Technology
  • Humanities
  • History
  • Languages
  • Music
  • Physical Education (PE)
  • Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)

Schools must also provide Religious Education, although parents can ask that their children are taken out of part or all the lessons.

The focus of Key Stage 2

Maths and English are the focus of Key Stage 2 as they are considered gateways to future learning. In English, children progress from reading with a focus on comprehension to grasping overall concepts through age-appropriate literature. They learn how to craft well-punctuated and structured sentences and express their ideas clearly. In Maths, children should be able to perform calculations with increasingly large and complex numbers, including long division and multiplication. They will also use measuring instruments like rulers and make connections between measurements and numbers. That’s not to say the other subjects aren’t important for a well-rounded education. For example, science covers the basics of biology, physics and chemistry, and an understanding of the world is introduced in history and geography. Computing is considered essential in today’s world.

Tests and assessment

Children take exams known as SATs (Standardised Assessment Tests) at the end of KS2 in the following subjects:

  • English grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • English reading (reading and understanding text)
  • Mathematics (arithmetic and reasoning)

The SATS results are used to assess progress in English and maths and measure school performance.

How to choose a KS2 tutor

Key Stage 2 is a crucial stage in your child’s education as it builds a foundation in core skills and prepares them for the more demanding requirements of secondary education. If your child is struggling in one or more subjects or lacks overall motivation and confidence, it’s important to address these issues before they start falling behind in their learning. The SATs are culmination of work over the whole of KS2 and not just Year 6, so your child will benefit from tutoring at any stage. It’s important to choose an experienced KS2 tutor who can offer lessons adapted to your child’s specific needs and who will provide you with regular feedback on their progress. At GoStudent, our tutors offer adaptive learning, where lessons, readings and practice activities are personalised towards the individual child and based on their current skills and performance. They also offer interactive and engaging lessons that will keep your child’s interest – and could spark a love for learning that will last through their academic career and beyond.
