Hi, I’m Lydia! I completed my A-levels in Biology, Chemistry and Economics and I’m currently a solicitor apprentice at a top law firm. I tutor GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Economics, and I enjoy helping students break down difficult topics into clear, manageable steps. Having recently completed these subjects myself, I understand the challenges students face and how to approach exams effectively. My teaching style is patient, structured and adaptable to each student’s learning style. I focus not only on improving understanding, but also building confidence through clear explanations, active recall and exam practice. I’m passionate about helping students achieve their potential and making learning feel less overwhelming and more rewarding. I completed my secondary education at Sacred Heart High School before studying Biology, Chemistry and Economics at Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School for sixth form. I achieved strong GCSE and A-level results, including multiple A*/A grades. I am a dedicated maths tutor with a strong background in actuarial science and several years of professional industry experience. My journey began by excelling in mathematics during high school, which led me to study actuarial science at university. Alongside my studies, I tutored fellow students in statistics and later worked independently with university‑level learners. These experiences taught me that many students struggle not because of ability, but because of confidence. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into simple steps, encouraging learners to build understanding and self‑belief. I excelled in mathematics throughout high school and went on to complete a Bachelor of Commerce in Risk Management, majoring in Actuarial Science. My studies gave me a solid foundation in advanced mathematics, statistics, and problem‑solving. During university, I tutored peers in statistics and later worked independently as a tutor for university‑level statistics, strengthening both my teaching and analytical skills. I continue to pursue the actuarial qualification through professional board exams with hope to become a fully qualified actuary in the future

I help KS3 and GCSE students build real confidence in Spanish — not just memorise vocabulary for the next test, but actually understand and enjoy the language. For the past seven years I've guided teenagers through reading, writing, speaking and listening, with lessons built around exactly what they're examined on (AQA specification). Before tutoring, I worked as a journalist — and it shaped how I teach: I break grammar down the way I'd break down a complex story, clearly and without jargon, always checking it's landed before moving on. My students consistently see their grades and their confidence grow together, because in my experience the two go hand in hand. 🎓 Certified ELE (Spanish as a Foreign Language) Tutor ✍️ Experienced editor for blogs, magazines and social media — which is exactly why my students' written Spanish improves fast 🏫 Former Assistant Professor, with solid classroom and academic experience 🌱 I specialise in building self-confidence, especially with students who feel anxious about exams or believe they're "just not good at languages"

GCSE Subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Combined Science Exam Board Experience: AQA, Edexcel Preferred Student Age Group: GCSE Hi, I’m Hagen, a third-year Pharmacy student at the University of Reading with a strong background in biology and chemistry. Before university, I achieved top marks in BTEC Applied Science, and my degree has continued to build on that foundation through detailed scientific study. I tutor GCSE Combined Science, Biology, and Chemistry, focusing on helping students properly understand topics rather than just memorising facts. I know science can become confusing quickly when concepts start building on each other, so I aim to explain things clearly, break them down into simple steps, and make them feel more manageable. My teaching style is patient, straightforward, and focused on what actually helps students improve. I want students to feel more confident with the subject, not just get through the lesson. I understand that different students learn at different paces, which is why I keep my explanations clear, structured, and tailored to how each individual learns best. Alongside my academic studies, I have experience teaching and guiding others through my role as an NCO in the Army Cadets, which helped me develop strong communication skills and a structured approach to helping people learn. My aim is to make science feel more approachable and to help students build confidence, improve their understanding, and achieve stronger results. MPharm (Master of Pharmacy) | University of Reading 2023 – 2028 My degree is building a strong foundation across the key sciences behind medicines and healthcare, including biology, chemistry, pharmacology, and patient-focused practice. Studying Pharmacy has strengthened my ability to understand complex scientific material, apply knowledge in a structured way, and explain difficult ideas clearly. BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Applied Science | North Hertfordshire College Grades: Triple Distinction Star (D*D*D) This qualification provided me with an intensive, practical background in both advanced biology and chemistry, preparing me directly for the rigorous demands of a healthcare degree. GCSEs | Dame Alice Owen’s School Completed my secondary education at a highly respected, top-performing school, securing the essential foundational qualifications required for higher-level scientific study. Healthcare & Industry Experience I have gained valuable experience in professional science and healthcare environments through working as a pharmacy assistant and completing work experience with GSK (GlaxoSmithKline). These roles have given me a broader understanding of how chemistry and biology are applied in real-world clinical and industrial settings, which I bring directly into my teaching.

Hi everyone, my name's Saoban, but you can call me Sao. I’m a medical student whose focus is on Biology, Chemistry, and Maths, but I can teach a range of subjects. My academic background is science-focused, which medicine requires a strong foundation in. I apply this directly in my teaching. Outside of teaching and medicine, I’m interested in fitness, health science, and personal development. I enjoy understanding how the body works and how small improvements compound over time - I find the same principle applies to studying. I am a third-year medical student with exposure to core pre-clinical sciences (biology, chemistry, biochemistry) at a university level I completed my GCSEs (including triple science) in Sherborne Qatar senior school, and moved to Doha College for my ALevels (Biology, Chemistry, Maths)

Hey! I’m an Aerospace Engineering graduate who decided Maths and Sciences shouldn’t feel like a foreign language. I turn the “what is this even?” moments into “ohhh, that’s how it works! I do understand how challenging these subjects can feel, which is why I focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple, logical steps that actually make sense. I’ve helped students improve grades, boost confidence, and even start enjoying the subjects they once found intimidating. My lessons are well-structured, interactive, and tailored to each student’s learning style, whether you’re aiming for top exam results or just want to build a stronger foundation. My lessons focus on understanding the “why” behind each concept, not just memorising formulae. I use real-life examples from engineering to bring ideas to life and adapt my approach to each student’s learning style. I use step-by-step explanations, visual aids, and real-world examples to help students see how theory connects to practice. Every session is tailored to suit the student’s learning style and goals. Come join, let’s make Maths and your Sciences finally make sense… and fun! I hold a first class degree in Aerospace Engineering, where I developed a strong foundation in advanced Mathematics, Physics, and problem-solving. My studies focused on aerodynamics, materials, and adaptive wing technologies, areas that taught me how to apply theory to real-world engineering challenges. Throughout my degree, I gained extensive experience using analytical and design tools, which deepened my understanding of the core Maths and Physics principles behind modern engineering. This hands-on background helps me explain complex topics clearly and show students how what they’re learning connects to practical, real-life applications.

What is Key Stage 4?
Key Stage 4 (KS4) comprises Year 10 and Year 11, when students are aged between 14 and 16. During this time they are working towards their GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education), which are a gateway to further education and career paths.
What subjects are covered in Key Stage 4?
The national curriculum offers the following subjects:
Compulsory subjects that must be taken by all students are:
Schools must also offer at least one subject from each of these areas:
Academic students may be encouraged to take the English Baccalaureate, or EBacc. This is not a separate qualification, but a combination of six different GCSEs: English, maths, two sciences, a language and either history or geography.
Schools must also provide relationships, sex and health education and Religious Education (RE). Parents can ask for their children to be taken out of sex education lessons and all or some of RE lessons.
What is the focus of KS4?
The focus at KS4 is around preparing pupils for their transition to post-16 provision at the end of Year 11, for example A-levels, BTECs or the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Most students work towards national qualifications, usually their GCSEs. This is when they will start to study subjects that align with their strengths, interests and future goals, and at a greater depth than they have been able to before.
How to choose a KS4 tutor
Many students struggle with the one-size-fits-all approach often found in classroom settings. This can lead them to develop a negative mindset towards learning and a loss in confidence in their abilities. They can fall behind in their schoolwork and lose the motivation to put in the required effort to succeed.
KS4 tutors can provide targeted support in specific subjects where students may be struggling or need extra help to excel. This can be especially helpful if the student has special educational needs such as ADHD or dyslexia.
While most final exams take place at the end of Year 11, coursework and assessments are completed throughout the stage, so it’s important students always perform to their full potential.
GoStudent tutors have expertise in specific subject areas on the curriculum and offer a personalised approach tailored to individual needs, strengths, and weaknesses. They can close knowledge gaps, keep learning on track and help with exam preparation.
In addition, they can teach effective study techniques and time management strategies which can significantly improve performance, not only in KS4 but for the rest of the student’s academic career.
How much does private KS4 tuition cost?
Prices for private KS4 tuition can be as low as £21.99. The cost of each individual lesson will depend on how many lessons your child takes per week and how long they would like tuition for. Book a free trial session to see how affordable private KS4 tutoring can be with GoStudent.
