Hi, I'm Rafaela, a 19 year old university student who believes learning should be engaging and built on a genuine connection. I grew up in an international school abroad providing me with a diverse range of knowledge on different cultures as well as a broader perspective. At school I was head girl, providing me with leadership qualities as well as experience working with students from a wide range of year groups. When I’m not tutoring or studying, you'll probably find me at the gym with my friends, playing netball, reading a new book or baking something sweet. My hobbies not only bring me joy but they have taught me valuable lessons. For example, I have learnt both in and outside of school that practice does make perfect, and that nothing is impossible but instead sometimes a difficult journey to success. Through netball, I am used to working in a team to achieve an end goal, which is a crucial skill for tutoring to ensure beneficial lessons for both myself and my student. As a tutor, I understand everyone has their own unique way of learning and I love to be the person to help students find their way of learning and gain confidence in their academic ability. I want to be more than merely just a tutor for my students, I want to be someone they can trust, confide in, and see as a friend. I am excited to help students discover their own strengths and achieve their goals! I am currently studying at the University of Manchester, undergoing a undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and Portuguese. I am in my second year of a four year course, meaning i will graduate in 2028. Prior to this, i completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma programme for my last two years of school, receiving 36 points overall, with a 6 in higher level English. I also received 10 GCSE's, 6 A's and 4 A*s in 2022, getting A*s in both English Language and English Literature. My experience with tutoring has only ever been specific to English. I have tutored privately for two separate families, for children ranging between 5 - 13 years old. I first started tutoring English in 2020 and have been on and off tutoring for 5 years. Other work i have completed before has also been children specific, babysitting and netball coaching meaning i have lots of experience coaching and working with a large range of age groups.

I am a fully qualified Maths teacher, and have spent the last five years working in schools teaching Maths to students aged 11-18. I have spent the last two years as Assistant Curriculum Leader for Maths at a secondary school / sixth form in East London. Before teaching, I studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford, from which I graduated in 2019. Furthermore, I am experienced in working with both high and low attaining students, with SEND students, and with those students that require special adjustments. I have experience tutoring across all exam boards, but with particular experience with Edexcel. I have extensive experience with preparing students for their GCSE and A-Level examinations, both in schools and through private tuition, and have helped numerous students to reach their full potential and achieve their aims, whether that be a Grade 4 or a Grade 9. My approach to teaching is knowledge-based, emphasising teacher-led instruction and modelled examples followed by independent student practice, with additional support when required. My approach towards my students is firm but caring: I aim to cultivate a calm, consistent and productive atmosphere, where students feel happy, safe, and comfortable to ask for any support that they might need. Hi, I’m Harrison; I look forward to working with you! I hold a first class degree in English Literature, going on to study for an MA in public policy at the university of York. I achieved top marks at gcse (A*) and achieved a B in English literature and History at A-Level. That’s the academics out of the way, in terms of experience, I have tutored since 2020. I was volunteering with an educational charity called action tutoring, providing English and History tuition to groups of 1-3. These were children mainly on the borderline of a pass, looking to achieve passing and even top grades (including 8/9s)I have a good track record of tangible outcomes and was responsible for their progress throughout, keeping records of tests, progression and revision structure.. Some of these students also had significant challenges at home and at school, and so I developed a strong sense of resilience and motivation for education. A few students were also neurodivergent, and so I gained a appreciation and understanding of neurodivergence in education. Since then, I have kept tutoring throughout my university education and hope to do it as I study for my masters degree. All in all that's about 4 years experience! I pride myself on keeping my lessons personal and supportive, and will always ask for suggestions to improve and include the student in the direction of study. I enjoy politics, history, sci-fi and gaming! I hope that sounds convincing, and if so, I look forward to working with you! : ) I hold a B.A (hons) English Literature degree, awarded first class. My degree focused on a vast array of texts and study, and allowed me to have a wider skillset in order to tutor effectively. I am also studying for an MA in Public Policy at the University of York.

What is Key Stage 4?
Key Stage 4 (KS4) comprises Year 10 and Year 11, when students are aged between 14 and 16. During this time they are working towards their GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education), which are a gateway to further education and career paths.
What subjects are covered in Key Stage 4?
The national curriculum offers the following subjects:
Compulsory subjects that must be taken by all students are:
Schools must also offer at least one subject from each of these areas:
Academic students may be encouraged to take the English Baccalaureate, or EBacc. This is not a separate qualification, but a combination of six different GCSEs: English, maths, two sciences, a language and either history or geography.
Schools must also provide relationships, sex and health education and Religious Education (RE). Parents can ask for their children to be taken out of sex education lessons and all or some of RE lessons.
What is the focus of KS4?
The focus at KS4 is around preparing pupils for their transition to post-16 provision at the end of Year 11, for example A-levels, BTECs or the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Most students work towards national qualifications, usually their GCSEs. This is when they will start to study subjects that align with their strengths, interests and future goals, and at a greater depth than they have been able to before.
How to choose a KS4 tutor
Many students struggle with the one-size-fits-all approach often found in classroom settings. This can lead them to develop a negative mindset towards learning and a loss in confidence in their abilities. They can fall behind in their schoolwork and lose the motivation to put in the required effort to succeed.
KS4 tutors can provide targeted support in specific subjects where students may be struggling or need extra help to excel. This can be especially helpful if the student has special educational needs such as ADHD or dyslexia.
While most final exams take place at the end of Year 11, coursework and assessments are completed throughout the stage, so it’s important students always perform to their full potential.
GoStudent tutors have expertise in specific subject areas on the curriculum and offer a personalised approach tailored to individual needs, strengths, and weaknesses. They can close knowledge gaps, keep learning on track and help with exam preparation.
In addition, they can teach effective study techniques and time management strategies which can significantly improve performance, not only in KS4 but for the rest of the student’s academic career.
How much does private KS4 tuition cost?
Prices for private KS4 tuition can be as low as £21.99. The cost of each individual lesson will depend on how many lessons your child takes per week and how long they would like tuition for. Book a free trial session to see how affordable private KS4 tutoring can be with GoStudent.
How many other levels does GoStudent offer other than KS4 tuition?
As well as private KS4 tuition, GoStudent can help your child with 11 other levels. Pick from many subjects including Biology, French, Chemistry. And with GoStudent your child isn't tied into one level. If they are taking KS4 tuition but then need support with a different level, we can help them get that support with a tutor specialised in that level.
What are the benefits of private KS4 tutoring for your child?
