I will teach and do lecture notes where appropriate, or take a more "coaching" style if that suits you and the situation better. Specialisms: I am able to cover all aspects of the curriculum but I am particularly focused on skills. Psychology is a little different to other subjects covered at A-Level - not only do students have to learn a lot of information and produce it under exam conditions, but there is also a need to analyze and evaluate what has been learned so that they can write clearly, concisely and insightfully about that information. As well as teaching the syllabus content, I can help improve a student's thinking and writing skills so that they can go into exams with more confidence. I have also developed my coaching skills so work with students to help them improve their own problem-solving capabilities so that they can identify how they can study more effectively. A bit about me: I'm a PhD-qualified tutor who, over the course of my career, spent time working as a researcher, consultant and analyst across different industries. In all of those other roles, the part I enjoyed most was training, teaching and coaching people, so I am working towards making that my full-time career. Working in industry has taught me the importance of always turning up prepared and ready to work, using clear, prompt and honest communication and making sure that whoever I am working with knows that I am working in their best interests. The same will apply when we work together. In my spare time I love to play football and follow a lot of sport. I completed my A-levels during the pandemic, so I know first hand how tough online learning has been for many students, and how easy gaps in learning lead to lack of confidence in that subject. I myself have done the 11+ exam entrance exam, alongside a different entrance exam for my local Grammer school. The 11+ can be daunting, especially the non-verbal reasoning, but I believe this can be overcome during fun activities, such as puzzles and word games. Through my childhood I have loved completing word puzzles, I have many fond memories of doing word searches with my grandfather, suduko with my father and crossword puzzles with my grandmother.
