I am an engineering university student with a diverse educational background from different countries. Owing to my diverse experience, I am able to teach using varied curricula, adopt different systems, and incorporate appropriate approaches to meet the needs of the students. I am still a student, so I have first-hand experience with what students require from a student's perspective. Although I have around 3 years of experience working as a part-time tutor, both online and physical, I have been tutoring as a volunteer for about 8 years now. I have worked with students from different parts of the world of all levels and ages. Aside from teaching as a career, I am passionate about it because I aspire that "learning should be fun." I teach because I love it, because I enjoy it, and because...

--- About Me! --- I'm Danny, a 4th year physicist at the University of Edinburgh, currently undergoing a research year abroad working on a thesis at GSI/FAIR, a facility for high energy physics. My work involves a lot of programming, knowledge of physics, and application of engineering and design principles. I love inspiring others and talking about my subject, so any student who comes my way will hopefully leave feeling confident, ready for common exam questions, and most importantly, wanting to learn more beyond their curriculum. I play the violin to a diploma standard, love trying out new cooking recipes (sometimes with disastrous consequences), and really enjoy mountain sports, like climbing and hiking. --- My Education --- As mentioned above, I am a physicist at the University of Edinburgh on a year in industry at GSI. I am working on the upcoming DIRC particle detectors for the PANDA project and the EIC at Brookhaven (google these things, in my opinion they are very cool). This research of course involves knowing a bunch about programming, mathematics and physics! I achieved 4 A* grades at A-Level, in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Music, with the WJEC exam board. For these grades, I abused my poor printer, drilling past paper questions endlessly, so I am very familiar with this specific curriculum. However, mathematics and physics are very similar across all exam boards. There are common questions in every exam, and your child will become familiar and confident with these questions with me, ideally able to reproduce 'stock answers' with a high level of understanding and speed. This saves time in exams and guarantees easy marks; this is a major step in reducing exam anxiety, and one of the main strategies I used to achieve my marks. I taught a STEM program at a US summer camp. It was much more of a 'for fun' thing, so we focused on making classes lightweight and enjoyable, rather than drilling worksheets and past paper questions. As such, I won't exclusively bore tutees to death with math problems! I pride myself on being able to break down concepts into simple to understand analogies. I am also a huge advocate for using past questions as revision material. However, I recognise the importance for students to balance time spent on questions with going over textbook concepts.

Hello! My name is Samantha, and I have just finished a PhD in History and Politics at the University of Cambridge. I wrote a dissertation on nineteenth-century Italian political thought and successfully defended it with no corrections recommended. I have been a university teacher (for both History and Politics) since 2023 and a tutor for schools and private customers since 2020. I also have direct experience with university admissions, having run Politics interviews at the University of Cambridge. As a teacher and tutor, I have found it very rewarding to use my expertise and enthusiasm to help students do well in their courses, become excited about what they are learning, and grow in confidence. I offer tutoring in the following areas: - GCSE (or equivalent), A-Level (or equivalent), and university-level History and Politics. These are the subjects to which I have dedicated my past ten years of university experience. - GCSE (or equivalent) French. I have practised this language for more than a decade through independent learning, university study abroad programmes, and school and university qualifications. - GCSE (or equivalent) Geography. This was a subject in which I obtained an A-Level. - Supplemental qualifications, including the EPQ. - University applications and university entrance exams, including the HAT. I can help students (including those with SEND) with content, exam technique, and essay writing, and I have many resources available to ensure that I can provide specific guidance on all exam boards, exam questions, and topics. I also favour an active learning approach: while I can provide material (such as individualised PowerPoints or revision sheets) and go through the content to aid understanding, I always encourage my students to answer questions throughout the session and practise real exam questions at home. I believe this approach promotes independent thinking and exam preparation while also providing an environment where they can improve. I am very flexible and shall tailor my lessons to each student's needs. Academic CV: - 2021-26 - History and Politics PhD at the University of Cambridge, with extra courses in French, Italian, and German. - 2023 - Visiting Doctoral Researcher in History at the EUI, Florence. - 2019-20 - History MA at the University of Nottingham, with extra courses in French and Italian. - 2016-19 - History BA (Hons.) at the University of York, with extra courses in French and German. - 2018 - Summer School in History at Sorbonne University, Paris. - 2014-16 - A-Level History, French, Latin, Geography, and the EPQ. - 2012-14 - GCSE Biology, Chemistry, Classical Greek, English Language, English Literature, French, Geography, History, ICT, Latin, Mathematics, Physics, and Religious Studies.

I am an enthusiastic and dedicated GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry tutor who loves helping students understand and enjoy science. As a Biochemistry graduate with a strong academic background in the life sciences, I have spent years studying biology and chemistry, not just to pass exams, but to truly understand how these sciences work and why they matter in the real world. What excites me most about tutoring is seeing that moment of understanding when a difficult topic finally clicks. Both biology and chemistry can feel intimidating, full of complex processes and unfamiliar terminology, but I believe these subjects become quite fascinating once they are explained clearly and logically. My lessons focus on breaking down challenging ideas into simple, manageable steps, using diagrams, analogies, and real-life examples to bring the content to life. As a tutor, I take a student-centred approach, tailoring each lesson to your individual needs and learning styles. Whether you need help building strong foundations, mastering difficult topics, or improving exam technique, I adapt my teaching to support them effectively. I also place strong emphasis on exam-style questions and mark schemes, helping you gain confidence in applying your knowledge under timed conditions. I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I am patient, approachable, and genuinely invested in my students’ progress. My goal is not only to help you achieve the highest of grades, but also to feel more confident, capable, and proud of your understanding of science. If you are looking for a tutor who is knowledgeable, encouraging, and genuinely passionate about biology and chemistry, I would be delighted to support you in reaching your academic goals. I graduated in July 2025 with an MSci in Biochemistry from the University of Nottingham, achieving a 2:1. Prior to that, I completed my A-Levels in Chemistry (A), Maths (B), and Biology (C). I am confident in tutoring both GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry, with previous tutoring experiences in both subjects.
