Hello! My name is Emma, and I am a second-year Accounting and Finance student at Lancaster University. I achieved 9 GCSEs, ranging from 7-9, which allowed me to study Chemistry, Economics and Maths. I also gained an A* in my EPQ, which I completed in year 12, giving me crucial skills that I have carried forward to my degree. I have been tutoring for 8 months. During this time, I have helped prepare primary school students for their SATS and gained more confidence with maths in the classroom. I also prepared year 11 and 13 students for their GCSE and A levels by covering content they were unsure of and practising exam techniques. I previously gained experience mentoring GCSE students at my school. I am a student with dyslexia, so I understand the challenges students face in classroom settings. Anyone can be successful, which is why my sessions are student-led, so that they are catered towards each individual's learning style. If you are unsure of this throughout my school career, I have learnt different methods that work for me and would love to pass them on to others so that we can find a technique that works for you. I attended Rugby School, where I completed my GCSEs and A levels, and now I have gone on to study for a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance at Lancaster University, where my ambition is to become an ACA Chartered Accountant. Having studied Chemistry, Economics and Maths at A level, I offer tutoring for students up to and including year 11 in Maths and Chemistry and then Economics up to and including year 13 students.

I am Miriam Hajj, a 23-year-old dedicated medical student with a strong passion for education. I aspire to become an expert medical doctor and ultimately a university professor, where I can guide and inspire students to achieve their academic goals in the most effective and supportive manner. I firmly believe that education is not merely a requirement, but a pathway for personal and intellectual growth. I have been tutoring for approximately seven years, since I was in college, supporting students across various levels, including GCSE and A-Level. I have also worked in different educational centres, particularly with students who had failed their national exams. I organized intensive one-month courses focusing on biology, chemistry, math and physics, and I am proud to say that almost all of my students successfully passed their exams. I have also tutored students preparing for the DELF exam for those aspiring to study in France. During medical school, I further honed my tutoring skills by organizing intensive three-month sessions for students preparing for medical and engineering school entrance exams. I developed rigorous study plans, conducted mock exams, and provided personalized feedback, resulting in a high success rate among my students. Beyond my studies, I am an active person involved in various extracurricular activities. I have volunteered with a charity organization, where I received training in social skills, psychology, and other relevant areas. Subsequently, I became a trainer myself, conducting workshops for youth. I also took Non-Violent Communication (NVC) and child protection trainings; I subsequently volunteered at a centre that provides care for children who have experienced abuse Leveraging my passion for education and my extensive tutoring experience, I currently serve as the Local Officer of Medical Education (LOME) within my university. I am fluent in English, French, and Arabic, and I am learning Spanish. I am passionate about creating a positive and supportive learning environment where students can thrive. Throughout my secondary education, I consistently excelled academically, achieving top results in my class. Driven by a lifelong passion for science and medicine, I excelled in my studies and achieved a national rank of 12 in the national examinations. I pursued rigorous academic studies, focusing on subjects like mathematics (algebra, statistics, and analytical geometry), physics (mechanics and electromagnetism), and chemistry (general, solutions, and organic). This rigorous foundation was complemented by 9 biology courses, encompassing topics such as histology, cytology, botany, genetics, anatomy, vegetal reproduction, animal reproduction , geology and embryology. The path to medical school proved highly competitive. I successfully navigated the demanding pre-medical program, which included a rigorous first year with a challenging curriculum. I then successfully competed in the highly selective medical school entrance examination, facing fierce competition from over 1000 applicants for only 100 places. The examination comprised rigorous written tests in all subjects, including a crucial English and French language proficiency test. I am proud to have secured 50th place. I am currently in my fifth year of medical school, eagerly anticipating the commencement of my hospital internship in the coming months.

I have over 10 years of experience in Education, learning, and development, teaching in both Primary and Secondary Schools. I specialise in teaching 11+, Social Sciences and prepping for national exams. I love helping students bridge the gap between what they currently know and what they need to know, by building confidence and resilience in their subject knowledge and approach to learning, especially in areas which they find particularly daunting. Engagement in learning is key. All lessons must be interactive to encourage learning and development. I encourage engagement through quizzes, questions, games, opinions, matching & sorting activities and use of mixed media. I adapt to different learning styles by meeting children where they are at, finding out what they currently know and using that information as a foundation to make learning accessible for them. I use assessments to track progress and plug gaps in their knowledge. My passion is to create successful learners who are able to achieve and exceed the goals they set for themselves. At A-Level, I studied Sociology (Grade A), Psychology (Grade B) and ICT (Grade C) at Southwark College. I then completed my BSc in Sociology and Criminology at City University, achieving a 2:1. I also have a PGCE in Upper Primary which I completed at Goldsmiths College. Additionally, I have a CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in Learning and Development.
