Hello and welcome to my profile! My name is Joshua and I'm here to help your child master maths. I'm currently a 5th-year medical student with a passion for learning and teaching, and I'm actively working towards my ambition of becoming an Ophthalmologist, possibly practicing in the US. With over a year of tutoring experience, I have successfully completed almost 200 lessons with students of various ages and abilities, building a strong track record of helping them achieve their academic goals. Beyond maths, I also have valuable work experience helping primary school children with English as a second language improve their reading skills, which has further refined my patience and adaptability as an educator. My core teaching style is built on creating a relaxed and friendly environment. I believe students learn best when they are comfortable, which is why I actively encourage hard work, provide constructive feedback, and use small talk to foster a genuine, encouraging connection. When I’m not studying or tutoring, I lead an active lifestyle. I enjoy playing football, squash, and table tennis weekly, and I go to the gym daily for weightlifting and cardio. This success continued into my A-Levels, where I secured an A* in Chemistry, an A in Biology, and a D3 (equivalent to an A) in History. Currently, I am navigating the exciting and challenging world of medicine as a 5th-year medical student at the Medical University of Sofia. My time in medical school—and my ambitious goal of becoming an Ophthalmologist—isn't just about science; it's about problem-solving, long-term focus, and breaking down complex information into manageable steps. In English, I enjoy reading into a text and finding deeper meanings to better understand the writer’s intentions and message. In Maths, I enjoy working through difficult questions, and using my problem solving skills to reach the answer. My hobbies include reading and writing, crochet, and anything creative. I have worked with young people previously, volunteering as a Young Leader and, more recently, a Unit Helper in Girlguiding. I was also a reading ‘Super-tutor’ in my school’s reading programme, designed to help Year 7 students boost their confidence and skill in reading, meaning I would step in to cover for any tutors who were absent when they planned to meet with their assigned tutee, and I oversaw the running of the programme as a whole.
