Hi there. James here, from South Africa. I taught in London in Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and then in Johannesburg and Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa for a total of 21 years. I have taught Cambridge A Level History and England and South Africa's English and History curricula. I am also a published researcher, poet, and author. I enjoy cross-country running. I like NETFLIX mystery series. I regularly get out wilderness walking and cross country swimming. Since February 2025, I tutor English and Religious Studies for GoStudent. I battled with learning difficulties at school. However, I did very well after school, because I knew that English opens doors. So, I set goals. Then I achieved a B.A (1985) and a B. Ed (1996) degree, at Wits University in Johannesburg. I did a Masters Degree in Theology (Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., 2001) and a PhD in Church History (University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2016). I believe education is a lifelong journey. We master English every day for the rest of our lives. So I'm still learning as I tutor GCSE students, A Level students, and juniors, to reach their highest goals.

I was born in Cape Town, South Africa. I moved to Ireland when I was 12 years old. I love Maths and English, but I decided to study Science in college. I love reading classic novels, writing funny stories, and watching Korean dramas. I enjoy travelling, cooking Asian foods and making my friends laugh. I look forward to helping more students! I wrote my Junior and Leaving Certificate in Ireland. For my Leaving Certificate, I studied English (H), Maths (H), Biology (H), Chemistry (H), LCVP (Common), Accounting (H) and French (H). I obtained my BSc. in Analytical and Forensic Science with a Distinction at LYIT (now ATU). I also have a TEFL Certificate for teaching English.

Hi! My name is Layla, and I tutor Sciences, Maths, and English as a Foreign Language. I have experience helping students of different ages and backgrounds, whether it’s preparing for exams, strengthening core skills, or building confidence in English communication. After finishing school, I spent my gap year in Istanbul, studying Arabic and Turkish, which gave me valuable cultural and language-learning experience. This year, I will be starting my degree in Mechanical Engineering at university, and I am excited to apply my strong foundation in maths and sciences to both my studies and my tutoring
