About Me I am a high-achieving Economics student at Queen Mary University of London, but my journey started exactly where many of my students are now. I personally navigated the 11+ process, successfully gaining a place at Wallington High School for Girls, before moving on to St Olave’s Grammar School for Sixth Form—consistently ranked as one of the top-performing schools in the UK. Having walked this path myself, I know exactly what it takes to secure a place at a top-tier grammar school and how to thrive once you get there. My Academic Record My educational background is built on a foundation of academic rigor and discipline: GCSEs: I completed 11 GCSEs with top marks at Wallington, giving me a broad and versatile knowledge base. A-Levels: At St Olave’s, I tackled a demanding workload of 5 AS Levels and 3 A-Levels, honing the advanced analytical skills I now use in my Economics degree. Please note: My availability is currently open for Summer 2026 during my university break (available to start immediately), so I'll have more flexibility than usual. Due to other summer commitments, my availability and lesson times may vary week-to-week, but I'll always communicate this and we can figure out suitable time slots together. I now attend the University of Cambridge to study English Literature. I love both English and Maths, and studied both at A Level. In English, I enjoy reading into a text and finding deeper meanings to better understand the writer’s intentions and message. In Maths, I enjoy working through difficult questions, and using my problem solving skills to reach the answer. My hobbies include reading and writing, ice skating, and anything creative. I have worked with young people previously, volunteering as a Young Leader and, more recently, a Unit Helper in Girlguiding. I was also a reading ‘Super-tutor’ in my school’s reading programme, designed to help Year 7 students boost their confidence and skill in reading, meaning I would step in to cover for any tutors who were absent when they planned to meet with their assigned tutee, and I oversaw the running of the programme as a whole. Hi, I’m Maite! I’m a native German speaker and teach German at all levels — Primary, GCSE, and A-Level. Besides German and English, I also speak French and Spanish. I hold a BA in Cultural Studies with a minor in Educational Science, which deepened my understanding of cross-cultural learning, communication, and how to make complex ideas accessible. During my time at university, I spent over three years tutoring children of different ages, working in a programme led by the German federal government to support children from migrant and refugee backgrounds in their school learning. I am now excited to work with adults as well. When I think back to my own school years, the teachers who inspired me most were those whose honest passion made even my least favourite subjects enjoyable. That’s the atmosphere I aim to create in my lessons: engaging, light, and enjoyable. Outside tutoring, I teach meditation and mindfulness and support a charity creatively, which helps me bring patience, flexibility, and creativity into my teaching. I tailor lessons to each student — whether you need grammar support, speaking practice, exam preparation, or a personalised lesson to build confidence at your own pace, or simply want to learn German out of interest and enjoyment. I hold a BA in Cultural Studies and Educational Science, which I completed at Leuphana University in Lüneburg, Germany. I specialised in cultural theory and visual culture and spent an Erasmus semester at Université Bordeaux Montaigne in France. In addition, I hold a Yoga Alliance–approved 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certificate, complemented by an additional 50 hours of training in meditation.
