Hi! I’m Lucy and I am a Policy and Legislation Lead within the UK Civil Service. I have been doing this for nearly 5 years, following having studied at the University of Bristol. I studied BSc Management. In my spare time, I love playing and listening to music and being outside! I have a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Bristol. This included subjects such as business studies, economics, marketing, consumer behaviour and behavioural change theory. Before this, I studied four A-level subjects: Economics, Mathematics, Physics and History. I am currently working as a Civil Service policy advisor.

I help KS3 and GCSE students build real confidence in Spanish — not just memorise vocabulary for the next test, but actually understand and enjoy the language. For the past seven years I've guided teenagers through reading, writing, speaking and listening, with lessons built around exactly what they're examined on (AQA specification). Before tutoring, I worked as a journalist — and it shaped how I teach: I break grammar down the way I'd break down a complex story, clearly and without jargon, always checking it's landed before moving on. I am a friendly and dedicated tutor who enjoys helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit their individual needs, whether they need support with challenging topics or want to strengthen their understanding. Having studied A-Level Maths, Physics and Chemistry, I have a strong foundation in these subjects and aim to create a positive, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress. I am a Chemical Engineering graduate with a strong background in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. My degree has strengthened my analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, logical way. Having studied these subjects at A-Level, I have a solid academic foundation and enjoy helping students build confidence, improve their understanding and achieve their full potential.

I am an extremely enthusiastic and positive person. I currently teach English early years, Primary school/Reception year. SEND Primary and Highschool and ESL, with over 25 years experience. Patience is my middle name. I am an energetic and a fun teacher. Using a variety of methods including: auditory, visual, reading/writing, verbal and kinaesthetic movement. I look forward to meeting you, my future student. My academic journey started after high school and continues to present. Studying and learning never stops. It is a part of self growth. I actively ensure I continuously follow CLP. Fields of teaching include: English Reception year, English Primary school, English Primary and Highschool for SEN, SEND and ALN students who are looking to improve their skills in English. I also teach English as a Second language and Business English. An achievement of mine was when one of my students won GOLD at the Shanghai Special Olympics. In January 2025, GoStudent have added AI to GoClass. AI training was completed and is boosting tutoring outcomes.
