My name is Gemma and I am an English and Drama Graduate from Exeter University, 2:1 with a Creative Writing Dissertation. I have aspirations in teaching at Secondary School level and classroom and mentoring experience. I have worked for a year post graduation as a Sabbatical Officer in the Students Union. In my free time I enjoy reading, writing poetry and performing. I achieved 1x 7, 2x 8, 2x A* and 7x 9 in my GCSE's and 3x A at A level in English, Drama and Philosophy and Ethics. I took a gap year working, and volunteered in my school supporting extracurricular drama, and I have since returned 3x with paid opportunities, 2x teaching in music and drama. I went to Exeter University and studied English and Drama acheiving a 2:1 and departmental commendation for contributing to the life of the department. During my time at University I took on leadership and mentoring roles in extracurricular and this led me to my current position as a Sabbatical Officer advocating for Students in the University.

I achieved A*AA at A-level in these subjects and am currently studying Podiatry at Cardiff Metropolitan University. I’m currently studying Podiatry at university, a healthcare course that combines my love of science with practical, real-world applications. I’m currently offering tuition for students studying GCSE Chemistry or Biology, doing the AQA specification (only AQA, for the time being). I have a Bachelor of Medical Science degree (First). I have 3 years of tutoring experience, working with GCSE students across Maths, Biology and Chemistry. In this time, I've taught over 350 lessons. How I tutor: My lessons are tailored to your learning style and your strengths. We can work on specific topics you want help with, or we can use past papers to identify the areas that need more practice. I'll explain the difficult topics in a simple, clear way, so they’re easier to understand and feel much less daunting. I am an extremely enthusiastic and positive person. I currently teach English early years, Primary school/Reception year. SEND Primary and Highschool and ESL, with over 25 years experience. Patience is my middle name. I am an energetic and a fun teacher. Using a variety of methods including: auditory, visual, reading/writing, verbal and kinaesthetic movement. I look forward to meeting you, my future student. My academic journey started after high school and continues to present. Studying and learning never stops. It is a part of self growth. I actively ensure I continuously follow CLP. Fields of teaching include: English Reception year, English Primary school, English Primary and Highschool for SEN, SEND and ALN students who are looking to improve their skills in English. I also teach English as a Second language and Business English. An achievement of mine was when one of my students won GOLD at the Shanghai Special Olympics. In January 2025, GoStudent have added AI to GoClass. AI training was completed and is boosting tutoring outcomes.
