I'm Mae Concepcion Tejano, and I'm excited to be part of your journey to mastering English! With a TEFL certification and a degree in English, I bring over five years of experience teaching GCSE and A Level students from various backgrounds and skill levels. In our sessions, I plan to use a variety of multimedia resources, including articles, games, and videos, to make the learning experience enjoyable and interactive. I graduated with a degree in Juris Doctor, or Doctorate of Law, a program that not only honed my legal expertise but also provided a broad and strong foundation in various disciplines such as teaching methods, linguistics, literature, politics, and Philippine history. Through my studies, I gained an understanding of the intersection between law and society, which enhanced my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively. In addition to the legal coursework, I learned essential pedagogical skills that have proven invaluable in various teaching environments. I focused on designing lessons that cater to diverse learning styles, ensuring that all students, regardless of background, feel supported and encouraged in their learning journey. Additionally, I acquired skills in classroom management, which helped me create a positive, productive learning environment where students are motivated to participate and excel. Overall, my education equipped me with the tools to empower students, foster critical thinking, and make a meaningful impact in the classroom.

I am currently studying Law at University and have over a year of tutoring experience. I find it really rewarding to help students achieve their greatest potential and enjoy tutoring. Reaping the benefits and seeing students improve is such a lovely experience to witness. I am currently studying for my bachelors degree in Law at the University of Birmingham and I have A-levels in Law, English Literature and Criminology. I achieved 8s in both English Language & Literature at GCSE, furthering this to A-level. I enjoy essay-based subjects!

I’m currently in my first year of Biomedical Science. I have a strong passion for the sciences, with an interest of sharing scientific knowledge with my peers and students. I have done my A levels Maths, Biology and Chemistry in the UK but I have a multicultural background as I moved from Italy. I used to spent my Saturday mornings teaching primary schoolers in Italy with additional learning needs. This choice was rooted by the fact that my own brothers have additional learning needs so that experience, combined with being multilingual (I can fluently speak in Hindi, Punjabi, and Italian), has shaped how I approach learning with patience making sure nobody is left behind. I want to become a tutor because it gives me satisfaction when I see students achieving their goals and see their self-confidence soar! I don't just want to teach subjects but I want to be a supportive part of their journey, helping them realize that no academic challenge is too big to overcome. I achieved my GCSEs (Maths, Physics, Combined Science, Philosophy, Latin, Italian Language and Literature, English, History, Social Sciences and PE) in Italy. After that I moved to the UK where I completed my GCSE in English language and Maths and an ESOL course at Tresham College in Corby. I continued my studies following my passion for the scientific subjects. I studied A level Maths, Chemistry and Biology, at the Corby Sixth Form, achieving a grade B in all three of my subjects. Currently I'm in my first year of Biomedical Science at the University of East Anglia. Additionally I also have completed an online course on careers available in the NHS and volunteered at my local hospital so I can provide mentorship for students interested in studying STEM degree and gain access in an health related career.

I am an English Literature graduate from the University of Birmingham, who is currently studying a Masters degree in Philosophy. I really enjoy English and Philosophy as they can be a really fun subjects to learn as well as teach. I found that at school my teachers made the subjects enjoyable, so much so that I got a grade 9 in my English Literature GCSE and a grade 8 in English Language as well as a grade A* in my Religious Studies A-level and a 2:1 in my English Literature degree. Therefore, I aim to help students improve their grades by making learning enjoyable because when something is difficult to learn it can be difficult to want to understand and persevere. As a tutor, it is important to understand areas of struggle and help to adapt them in a way that is more accessible to the student. I have achieved 10 GCSEs, in which I received: 1 Grade 9 in English Literature, 4 Grade 8’s (1 Grade 8 being in English Language), 3 Grade 7’s and 2 Grade 6’s. I have also achieved 3 A-levels and received: an A* in Religion, Philosophy and Ethics, an A in English Literature and a B in German. I graduated from the University of Birmingham as an undergraduate English Literature student with a 2:1 Honours and have recently graduated with a MSc in Philosophy, Mental Health, and Psychology.
